I don't recall any of his books laden with so many inconsistencies, save for one - Kahlee's inability to remember the Reapers in Ascension, that the reader spends more time thinking WTF?, than following the story.

99% of people responsible for ME3 are not responsible for Deception. That is the work of Mr. Dietz (not a Bioware employee) and probably a handful of incompetent people from Bioware that reviewed his "work" and gave it the OK.
Just the executive producer and lead writer, but whatever.
That aside, I don't think their efforts on proof-reading Deception are indicative at all of the quality of ME3.
And I think any move to affect ME3 preorders is silly and futile. The novel readers are a tiny fraction of a fraction of ME3's total player base.
We've made a thread. They get it. We don't like Deception.
Was it said or confirmed who exactly gave this....book the OK?

Regardless of what anyone's opinion of Drew's writing style, positive or negative, at least one can say they're reading a legitimate Mass Effect novel.

I got over it, but yeah, that threw me off. Simple mistake, guess the editors missed it.

This is my feeling exactly. Whether you think the writing is great, the story fits in the universe. With Dietz's, we can't even being to figure out where it takes place. It's just pathetic.

My main argument is pre-orders in general. Just look at how many people would have been spared this attrocity of a book if the HADNT PREORDERED IT.
As gamers, we need to get our **** together and learn that patience is a virtue, and preordering is working against us in all sorts of ways. Quality is only assured when publishers know that gamers read reviews and sales reflect them.
If you know you're going to buy ME3 anyway, then what's the harm in waiting a few extra days/weeks? The bugs will get patched, the reviews will come in, and you'll still get the same great experience, assuming it was ever there to begin with.
If preorders weren't a thing, things like Dragon Age 2 would never have happened.

I really, really like Kahlee. She came from a crappy background, worked her way up and makes mistakes. She's HUMAN, and 2-dimensional (not quite 3-dimensional, but a lot better than most characters in game fiction).
Huh? She's the daughter of an international hero (a bloody icon). I don't recall any account of her working her way up - what did she do? And as for her mistakes, everybody just seems to gloss over them and still tell her she's wonderful. She certainly doesn't seem to have learned anything or grown as a person from her mistakes.

Casey mentions reviewing it twice on Twitter (that was months ago), and Dietz's acknowledgements page in Deception lists three Bioware employees - Hudson, Mac Walters and Tricia Pasternak - as giving him 'advice and guidance'.
In an email response to a reader, Dietz mentioned that two senior Bioware employees (I'm presuming Casey and probably Mac) read through Deception and provded creative oversight.

Which no one is aware of. Her mother dies young, and she works very hard to get where she is.

Read the books. She was raised by her mother in the megatropolis of Texas, one of the poorer regions on earth. Her parents divorced when she was young-ish, and she grew up basically by herself. She promised her mother she would never speak to her father (a promise she was forced to break when on the run from edan haddah), and after her mother died she enlisted with the alliance, studied hard and eventually was assigned to top-security clearance projects pulling down top-pay.

I can see them all, but they're huge! (As in, I can only see 'ASAR' in the first one).
Do they look fine to everybody else? Because I can see enough to pick a few and use them, if they look normal.
Edit: Oh, and thanks so much for taking the extra time to help me out. Super appreciated!

I don't think I've ever pre-ordered any books though and am pretty picky when it comes to buying them. Very rarely get into new authors. Still, Deception makes me want to do a read through the last three books. A feeling I can't say I've felt before. So, it succeeded in some regard.
