Challenge:

List what you percieve to be the 5 worst sentences (from the extract at least)

Got a bit distracted, but here:

The instant classic:

That made him an extremist, not to mention a racist, and that was fine with Leng.

The "Would Be Marked 'Awkward' In Red Pen By Your English Teacher" award:

Because of an injury sustained during a recent and especially difficult mission, Leng was using a
cane as he mounted the steps one at a time.

The "Most Cliched One-liner" award:

“Don’t bother to get up,” Leng said, as he bent over to pick up his cane.

The "Most Egregious Violation Of Lore" award:

One that had been sprung so successfully that now, two years later, some of the damage the sentient machines had caused was still being repaired.

The "Don't Show Sh*t. Tell." Award:

It was also annoying and made Anderson frown.

OK, so actually, that was just the five worst sentences in the first eleven pages.

Okay,  I laughed.
The sentence about racist, is gold, did bother me the first time I read It :P

Wonder if we'll get a PULSE-episode telling us how great this book is

Now that you mention it, I'd love to know what part Casey read that made him go "Lots of good stuff in Deception. You'll love it. Kai Leng is a badass." (mostly paraphrased, I don't know the exact quote)

Because I can't see any. :?

Well I sent my friend the quote about the cereal and he now thinks Kai Leng is amazing (he had no idea who Kai Leng was beforehand), so possibly that. =P

BioWare really screwed up here. They should have actually regulated what this man was doing.

I strongly doubt that body loses integrity during FTL jumps. Or while Charging, for that matter. Or that Shepard can notice said blur while Charging.

Gonna pretend as if I didn't see that she has the reave ability.

Is it even possible for anyone but Shepard and asari to use charge? Obviously MP characters can for gameplay purposes, but IIRC, the user would have to have L5n implants be at least a Level 5 biotic.

Thanks, Joe.

BioWare's level of scrutiny has officially become the lowest I've ever seen if Dietz was given such a run-around with such disastrous results.

The point being that the same people who work with Drew subjected this book to the same scrutiny that they always do.

... subjected this book to the same scrutiny that they always do.

scrutiny

wat.

I really feel for the man. It is as I feared. A screw up this big can't be his fault alone.

But you have to hand it to him, he still thinks it's a good story in it's own right!

"...But generally speaking task is to play the games and read all the existing books..."

"The folks at Bioware could be describedd as being somewhere in the middle which is to interested, but no peering over my shoulder every moment. However, once the first draft was submitted they were very involved and reviewed the manuscript line-by-line, and suggested numerous changes."
...

"Finally I must say that I'm proud of the book, I think it's a really good story..."

:blink::blink: :mellow:

I  don't   really have   the   words...

Edit for context.

Interesting. So, who's getting his ass fired from Bioware?

Like I said, it's more of Bioware's fault if things went unnoticed. He's the outsider after all.

Bioware have got a LOT of firing to do if Deception received the same scrutiny as the other books.

A LOT.

Nobody. If there were only one person involved perhaps then, but I recall reading that there were two persons working on this. They probably just checked that there wouldn't be major conflicts between Deception and games like Tim dying in Deception but being well in ME3. What comes to other things, they just didn't thought it to be worth of their time budget.

I had virtually zero interest in this book and absolutely no intentions of buying it.

Now I'm genuinely curious to see how it ends and I'm tempted to actually buy the thing.

He should be proud.

Well, he can't really say something like "Frankly, I think it's a peice of garbage, and I would cancel my pre-order as well, if I were you.", can he?

I'd be proud too. Dietz obviously has powerful magical powers at his disposal. These powers allowed him to mind-control BioWare and his PoS work is gonna be published.
