The 'sweeping aside' thing can easily be applied to the lore thing as well. They can simply state that it's just a standalone novel based on the ME world and that the events occurring within are would could happen, not necessarily what really happened. Or something.

DA2 sold well off the reputation of Origins, then word spread about how crap it was and sales almost stopped completely. Same thing will probably happen with here.
