The book was sold out at my store.

DA2 sold well off the reputation of Origins, then word spread about how crap it was and sales almost stopped completely. Same thing will probably happen with here.

Just what I was thinking of.

This is a MIRROR of the DAO-DA2 situation.

Except that Deception has no good qualities at all.

I agree. Which might make it even more of a Collector's item.

I wonder if ME: Deception will ever become a "collector's item", considering its overall negative reputation is legendary.

So bad that its worth something?

Perhaps.

I can envision it becoming the "Eye of Argon" of video game conventions.

Yeah, I played the demo for DA2, and I thought it was pretty good.  As I own DAO, I think I can say that, at least in my opinion which I know will not be shared by all, I think the combat was improved although I cannot speak for the story as I haven't finished either game.

Bury it in a time capsule to be opened far into the future as an example of literature in the 21st century. It will be the greatest future civilization trolling ever.

Well, if, keyword IF, there is a company wide order to not talk about Deception right now, do you think he's gonna respond?

People are going to see the bioware logo under the thread, get all excited, click it, and get to: "Spam posts removed, bans handed out."
LOL.

Well, an order to not talk about something shouldn't stop them from doing their jobs.

well he could've told me that he couldn't talk about it until after they released an official statement

he just said he didn't want to get involved with the talks and if he did then he would have

Look at it this way: You wouldn't tell some random person you think the latest project your boss green-lit was a steaming pile of poo, and Bioware employees are in that very situation right now.  Someone above Woo's head thought this book, with Dietz, was a good idea, and unfortunately that person doesn't read the posts on BSN.

As much as I hate Deception, you are giving "the room" far too much credit by comparing the two.

The Room is funny as hell in all it's sucky glory. So bad it's hillarious.
Deception? So bad it's awfull.

I don't think declaring it as non-canon would change anything, we'd still have this novel (or it's ashes, depending on the person) and it's probably insignificant enough that it won't be mentioned at all in ME3.

All that would change is a sigh of relief from the wiki editors.

I just hope they didn't come here to ban the poor fellows (maybe two or so) who linked to the Google Books Preview. I mean, that's legitimately available for free, so that's still sort of a false move from them - but I guess mods are mods, can't do much about it. :pinched:

I honestly don't feel as if they're taking it as seriously as some of us might like to see. I really doubt that there's any significant kind of worry or the like. After all, the book is a small thing in the scope of things. I dunno. I think what we can expect is a brief statement with an assurance of all emphasis being placed on ME3 and so on.

The book situation is important because of the LORE issues.

That's INTEGRAL to Mass Effect.

From a business perspective, this book is basically a commercial fail (or it will be eventually). Sadly it won't be a big enough failure for those on top of the food chain to really care about it. Let's be honest here, this book is minor compared to Mass Effect games, especially in a business sense.
I think that was what Eski.Moe was trying to say. We, the fans might think that this is hugely important, but those guys on top probably couldn't care less about what fans think about the lore. You have to understand that it's mostly business with those people.

Anyway, back to RAGING!!!

Oh I'm not saying the lovely Mister Woo cannot do his job :D

I'm just picturing other Bioware guys as either being scared witless and panicking over how to fix this.

Or they're partying with EA over what money they earned and how they trolled us. The Bioware tag on this thread now that a Mod has done some editing is just going to make people unaware that it really is just some editing and not a response, will just make said people go "THAT'S it?"

I don't think that's what they're here about - I think I was one of the few actually banned for posting that.

If made non-canon it'd certainly relieve me as then all the deceased characters would be alive again and I can hope to see them in later installments of the franchise, no matter the medium.

Frankly, I don't think anything short of Karpyshyn re-writing the book will remedy this situation. Even then, BioWare might influence him to kill off these people in a fashion similar to an actor being written off a sitcom because they no longer want to work on the show.

Not to get off topic, but apparently for some people a book, or movie can be sooo bad that it comes full circle and is good again in a ridiculously funny way.

Not for me. This book is so bad I'm depressed that someone was paid to write it, and that trees had to die for it to be printed.
