And then it became something akin, no, to ACTUAL torture for that poor person, and by the time he/she finished their IQ was dulled enough for them to give the green light.

I think I figured it out! this book is some sort of Reaper artifact that must have indoctrinated the people editing it so that they would give it the greenlight.

It was most likely something Dietz thought would be really awesome. You know, like Bioware's "when you press a button, something AWESOME has to happen" type of "awesome".
That's how I see a lot of Dietz' stuff written in this book. A lot of it is really cheezy and almost as, if he was trying to hard to be "original".

I get the feeling the novel only exists because Bioware's so busy with ME3 that they just didn't have the time to actually correct this thing's mistake.

The tweet from Casey saying he'd done the final review of Deception was tweeted on the 11 August 2011, 5 and a half months ago. Between then and now someone at Bioware should have picked up on the mistakes.

Just typical marketing tactics.  They likely didn't suspect it was going to be such a stinker and *gasp* fibbed about reading the book.

I'm not going to come out and call him a liar, but someone as well spoken as he surely cannot with a straight face say that the book was great and Kai Leng a "Baddass".
