Apparently, through Kotaku, this is getting more and more famous as time passes by as you can see, here. :D

I'm definitely certain that with THIS much negative reputation, it's worse for Bioware to stand around behind the scene than actually doing something.

Gamerants sure knew to pick nice image to go with the article. :P

Better than Kotaku with the image choice, hah.

Indeed - being compared to Comic Book Guy?  Shudders.......

It's quite amazing. David Gaider's book "Dragon Age: Asunder" has been out for over a month and has just 8 reviews on Amazon, but all of them are positive. In just a day Deception has double that number of reviews, all of which are negative (except a very suspect review from one Harriet Klausner).

Both books are from Bioware. The difference? Gaider cares about the world he created. It was a mistake to appoint an outsider.

Overall, I found the quality of the writing to be improved over the previous books, and this is likely the best of the series so far.

From Goodreads review.

Yeah, that surprised me to no end reading that.

So Mr. Dietz has a Goodreads account huh? Hm. How about that.

Goodreads

If everyone could pop over and rate this down on Goodreads, or write your own review, that would be good.

In all seriousness though: I hope that someone uses MS Sam to dub Kai Leng's lines when the game came out. That would be pretty awesome. I mean, think about it: based on what we know he's at least partially cybernetic (legs) so who is to say his voice isn't robotic?

and @JoeLaTurkey LOL yeah based on what I've heard I doubt that bloke has read the book. probably just a stock review.

Gather round, gather round, place your bets on it being a Bioware employee or Dietz himself! :bandit:

The 'sweeping aside' thing can easily be applied to the lore thing as well. They can simply state that it's just a standalone novel based on the ME world and that the events occurring within are would could happen, not necessarily what really happened. Or something.

Its not what happened in the novel, its the implications of all the lore errors if this is to be considered canon.

I doubt the average employee cares much about the novel which they're not personally invested in.

Fortunately the most common links on the Goodreads page that people would use to purchase the book lead to pages we have already addressed.

I just can't bring myself to believe the tweets

There are tweets? As in responses from Bioware or...?

Endorsements from very high-up and thus responsible people (wink wink)

Someone like Casey Hudson.

Mother of god.

Honestly, ask yourself. Can you ever take Casey Hudson seriously? I don't think I can.

Immersion and full scale galactic wa- Yeaaah, now that I think about it, I don't think I can either.

As of right now, anything anyone from Bioware will say in the future will be taken with A MASSIVE TRUCK OF SALT.

I thought his death was retconned and not considered canon because it wasn't used in the game.

I bought Deception Kindle edition from Amazon.com

I knew this is bad, in fact, I knew this is damn awful but I thought I do proper read through just to get material to make a good review and then, I have some other uses for this thing as well.

I warn anyone not to buy this book. I have now learned about batarian wearing an eye patch, how damn stupid would that look?
Also we are starting to have eye implants now in the real world, sure they are rare luxury in the time of star ships.

Then the whole thing going on at that point, the cereal killer stuff is infamous for a reason but that really seems to be just a tip of an ice-berg.

Took one for the team. My condolences.

I have my ways to get even, it's just that reading this thing is almost physically painfull. It feels like twist one's brain. I know it's impossible but still.

Batarian eye patches?!! LMFAO Wow.  This thread/book is tops for unintentional comedy.

Barla Von? Dead? Since when?
They mention Von once, then Dietz interchangeably writes Von and Zon throughout a page. It's quite funny.

Barla Von isn't dead. It was stated he was dead in CUT content. Therefore it doesn't count.

There was a cut news report for ME2 which said he was found dead, but since it was never included in the game proper, it's considered non-canon. (just like the cut news material on the crime lord Darius or some salarian trying to break Shepard's score on Pinnacle Station)

He isn't, I'm just trying to find more reasons to hate Deception.

There isn't enough already.

I mean, Anderson being friends with a guy he never met who's dead just sounds absurd to the point of potentially being awesome.

As it should in any situation when someone is asking you to buy something.  Not trying to be overly cynical, it's just the nature of business.  Bioware has shown they'll say anything if it will make you buy their stuff.  Most companies will.

Barla Von death is not canon, as the content was cut from the game. Still, Anderson knows him by reputation, wheras in Deception he seems to have used his services a bunch.
