Wait, Barla Von was brought up in this? Isn't he supposed to be dead?

I thought his death was retconned and not considered canon because it wasn't used in the game.

Huh? So he's alive...and Dietz takes Anderson pointing Shepard out to him (is that what he did? I can't remember details about the first game, haven't played it in a while.) as them being old friends? Wha?

For starters: TO THE GYROCYCLES (paraphrased)

Barla Von death is not canon, as the content was cut from the game. Still, Anderson knows him by reputation, wheras in Deception he seems to have used his services a bunch.

Yeah, the Barla Von thing was obviously from some old Shadow Broker idea they had, because the same news story talks about the SB's "empire" collapsing.

Yeah, it's one of the two leads Shepard is given. (the other being Harkin from Udina)
If you pursue the dialogue choices, you'll get the first mentioning of the Shadow Broker.

BOT: Deception still sucks.

ETA: For those, who are curious - didy has the cut dialogue in his signature link.

Someone like Casey Hudson.

As of right now, anything anyone from Bioware will say in the future will be taken with A MASSIVE TRUCK OF SALT.

As it should in any situation when someone is asking you to buy something.  Not trying to be overly cynical, it's just the nature of business.  Bioware has shown they'll say anything if it will make you buy their stuff.  Most companies will.

Yeah, I know that and I usually take everything with a pinch of salt. But after reading that Tweet, I just became hyper-sensitive to everything Bioware will say in the future.

Right. Remember that from your audio releases. So defnitely not canon.

Oh, dear lord.... the crime lord that Anderson and Kahlee go to see in their search for Nick is a batarian with a black eyepatch over one of his eyes.... Gotta find humor where you can, I guess. :P

I am starting to understand the more impatient members of my operation now.

I'm still patient, but I get it.

Considering they've lied countless times in the past, I don't see why this suddenly made you realize it. :P

For starters: TO THE GYROCYCLES (paraphrased)

And if there aren't any gyrocycles left, ask these guys:

They were a scruffy- looking bunch who wore face paint, were dressed in mismatched pieces of armor, and rode power skates. They were called the Lightnings and were known for their hit- and- run- style robberies.

And if that fails, hire a turian rickshaw:

That forced Hendel to jog for a while, worried lest they look back and spot him, before hiring a conveyance
of his own. It was a cart hitched to a rough-looking turian.

My Shepard would give him a lot of money so he could go do something useful like join the turian military or something.
