Didn't wrote a review but liked one star reviews and gave one star to this myself.
It looks obvious that there are people who give 4 to 5 star ratings to anything. I guess publishers marketing teams or something.

and when Hendel went looking for her he had been searching for himself as well.
“You mustn’t blame yourself,” she said. “Gillian is an adult.
Legally anyway. You did all that anyone could.”
“Come on,” Kahlee said, as she motioned to Anderson.
“Give me a hand. We’ll take Hendel to his cabin and get him patched up.”
“And sobered up,” Anderson put in, as he came to help. “Damn, Hendel . . . you look like hell warmed over.”
“Oh, yeah?” Hendel replied, as they helped him to his feet. “You should see the other guys.”
“We did,” Kahlee replied. “Some of them anyway. And they aren’t very happy.”
“Screw ’em,” Hendel said thickly.
“See?” Anderson said, as he helped Hendel out of the compartment. “He’s feeling better already.”
Kahlee laughed. And together they shuffled down the passageway.

Gillian is 18 merely for that line.

So does anything of importance at all happen in the book? I read the summary and everybody's fully spoilery thoughts but it seems like nothing happens and then people die.

As of right now, anything anyone from Bioware will say in the future will be taken with A MASSIVE TRUCK OF SALT.

As it should in any situation when someone is asking you to buy something.  Not trying to be overly cynical, it's just the nature of business.  Bioware has shown they'll say anything if it will make you buy their stuff.  Most companies will.

Yeah, I know that and I usually take everything with a pinch of salt. But after reading that Tweet, I just became hyper-sensitive to everything Bioware will say in the future.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you're right: anyone saying anything positive about this book has to take a major hit to their credibility.  And to imply that you've read/reviewed it and ENJOYED it?  Well then, you sir/ma'am are either the worst judge of quality I've ever met, or you're paid to say that and have no qualms with the dishonesty.

I do seriously wonder what individual dev's opinion of the book would be, especially the writting team.

Considering they've lied countless times in the past, I don't see why this suddenly made you realize it.

I guess I didn't catch that. I noticed the usual over-hyping in thier advertisements, but that was nothing new.
And even, if I did hear about their supposed lies, it would be easier to forgive than that god awful Tweet. I mean really,  Casey?

Also for blowing a girl's brains out point blank...and ripping two asari into meaty chunks with a warp.

And of course because she is stabbed to death with a sharpened toothbrush.

These things would be a problem if she was an autistic 15 year old. Of course, they still are a problem, but you get what I mean.

It says Kai Leng gets his legs upgraded but the last book set that up. Nothing else happens of note.
