(*To those who have already finished reading the book*)

I havent started reading the M.E books yet but is Deception really so bad that it'll ruin them for me when I do? I mean are there things about the characters and the story that are completely out of place? Or is it just many small errors? Dietz(the author) wrote a Halo book with a few errors here and there but the book was still good. So if its the same deal with Deception then I wouldnt mind.

Just give me an honest answer though, I know how worked up some fans can get(no offence) and sometimes exaggerate how bad things really are. :P

Honest answer.

This book is obviously much worse then Flood on many levels - facts about ME, style, grammar. Story is too shattered and full of  logical mistakes. Very weak dialogs. Flat characters.

To get back on a more positive note, I present to you Judge Dredd confronting William Dietz!  (playedbyArmandAssanti)

LLLOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRREEEEEEE!!!!!!

Edit: Actually, I can't believe how accurately this clip describes the book.  Dietz did kill some innocent people.

Bottom line is that when you're writing a story basd around pre-established lore with a strong fan following, don't screw up on the lore.

A few errors here and there can be accepted by the majority of people, but when such little effort is put in to fact-check, you're asking for trouble. Following the lore should be one of your top priorities.

I still don't understand how this book got the green signal from BioWare to be published.

It's not possible someone from Edmonton read the final draft and gave his approval.

Hmm, sounds pretty bad.

Ok well I'll read the first three, and just read Deception's the plot summary. If I do read the book I'll make sure I go through the list of all the errors to prepare myself lol.

@Yuoaman There are people who brush their teeth with ketchup? ಥ_ಥ

Maybe a manuscript got switched at some point and this is actually the first draft written before any edits were made.

Yeah.  I have a feeling this is one of those "Someone else will do it" cases.  The job of checking the book was pushed around by everyone at Edmonton until it was release time and they had to just say "screw it, release the thing".  Either that, or Dietz put on puppy eyes and said "Please, Mr. Hudson, sir.  Don't edit my book.  It's cold outside and I want money to pay the gas bills."

Best review of the book I've seen so far:

"In the book Kai Leng, the uber badass from ME:Retribution, who killed 6 turian infantry armed only with a knife and pistol, is reduced to peeing in vases and stealing Fruity Pebbles from Captain Anderson.

And then it gets bad."

You gotta give Deception credit where it's due. We wouldn't have all these wonderfully absurd memes to laugh about and take the ****** out of.

Gillian was a bit disoriented after the underground trip, and hungry as well, so she slipped into a noodle shop that was located in the corner of what appeared to be a block of apartments. That gave her an opportunity to eat a happy bowl and reorient herself using the pawnshop owner’s map. After finishing her meal she was ready to complete the arduous journey.

I mean, sometimes we all need to just sit down and eat a happy bowl, right?

There is something bothering me a lot with how the story progresses. Reminds me of something but it's not Dietz work for sure because I haven't read anything from him earlier.

Ok, that's it. It's over. You simply can't top this.
I am picturing blood pack mercs buying happy bowls and then going into a blood rage because they didn't get the prize they wanted.
