You'd think that things like Gillian being 18 years old despite of the fact that the book is taking place before ME3 and Omega being described as a planet would be a dead giveaway.

It defies all sense, no question.

Okay, here's the first five pages.

1) Human, volus, turian on a batarian world.
2) Kai Leng is crippled, yet manages to kick a guys ass
3) The same f***ing opening as "The World is Not Enough", widely argued to be the worst Bond movie. (Seriously, watch that opening, you'll agree it matches the book).

And that's the first five pages.

Also tears of a turian saint, and egg that's a map to a location outside the galaxy (because people go there all the time), and a bioweapon desinged to kill a man whose identity no one knows.

I want to clarify, in order to confirm the answer to your question I had to consult an expert. I don't know what that crap is.

Since I just got off work an hour ago, finally got to read some of it. Up to Chapter 3, 46 pages in. *shrugs* Continuity screw-ups aside, enjoying it so far. Not the best book in the world, but not horrible either. Guess we'll just agree to disagree. It's not that I think everyone should love the book, I just think people should be able to express their disappoint better and without as much vitrol(and that doesn't just apply here, that applies everywhere). Sorry I offended everyone. Devil's Advocate and all that. Carry on.

Continuity and screwups aside? That pretty much what this 300 page thread is about. You can love the story all you want, its the continuity and multiple screw ups that has pissed everyone off.

I know, I've looked at the doc and everything before today. My point was just that I am able to enjoy it despite all that. Just gives me more stuff to try and retcon personally. Can be a fun exercise.

I myself received my Book today. It's just laying on my shelf with the other books. It really comes down to the only reason I didn't cancel it was to complete my collection. I really don't have time to read it and people on this forum that have been helpful pretty much summarized it for me.

If the book it self didn't have all those errors I would've probably gave it a 2 or 3 no more. The story it self is extremely basic not overall exciting. My wonder now is if it becomes so horrible in the ratings if will it become collector material? YEAH RIGHT.

So an idea now "if" Bioware will respond?

Have you seen that episode of South Park with the Family Guy manatees?

That reminds me of Deception.

"Okay, let's read the balls. Uh...wire tap. Captain Anderson. Cocoa Puffs. Well, looks like the manatees want the story to include a wire tap on Captain Anderson, and, uh...then the character eats some Cocoa Puffs."

Kai Leng sounds like he's trying too hard to be a badass as well.

The only reason I'm buying it is so that I can slaughter it with my rainbow highlighter set, trusty Fisher space pen, and Post-It flags.

So far, I have only read the 50-page preview. However, in that 50 pages, there were more times I had to stop and go, "Wait a second...that is NOT right" than I care to remember. A book that is supposed to be canon and be the lead-in to the grand finale of the entire Mass Effect franchise should NOT make me do that. Not only is it maddening as a fan, but it makes the book very hard to get through...every mistake I found was something that jarred me out of the story and into "WTF" Land. There are also obvious grammar errors, which make any book hard to read in of themselves.

I think the main reason why this has so many people riled up so bad is because of the numerous, obvious continuity errors that could have been fixed with a trip to the Mass Effect Wiki. It makes us wonder, "Who edited this? Who read this? Who let this go to print???" Most of all, it makes us wonder if BioWare cared at all about what it was putting out and establishing as in-universe "canon." By putting their name on this, they are torpedoing a canon they created, and that's...troubling. You can't blame us for being incredibly worried at the least, and royally p*ssed off at the most when you consider it from that angle.

If you can enjoy it, more power to you; I honestly can't say I know how you do it.

I think in ME3, they should have a minigame where you try to distract Kai Leng with cereal.

I like what I've seen of ME3.

Why would someone put so much black olives in their salad? That has to be either beans I believe lentles (don't ask) or blueberrys.

P.S. Im joking

Kai Leng takes a call directly with the Illustive Man through an unsecure apartment "holo-pad" while on Omega... that... seems really, really stupid, given everything we've seen so far regarding TIM and Cerberus. :?

EDIT: Ok, apparently the apartment is suppose to be a Cerberus safehouse.
Still seems sorta stupid on TIM's part, in my opinion (not like Omega's a real secure place to begin with).

This bit just pissed me off anew:

The first emotion Gillian experienced was a deep and abiding sorrow. She was forever cut off from the only person who hadn’t been paid to care about her.

Yeah, except for that guy standing right next to you who quit his job and repeatedly risked his life in order to protect you, including staying to watch over you on the Idenna, completely cut off human and galactic society.

Hell, If Kahlee had been decently written, people could see that that was the case with her too. After all, she was with Hendel all the way. The only thing she didn't do was stay at the Idenna with her, but she risked herself for her sake as well.

Dammit Dietz...

Speaking of which...

Gillian’s sorrow began to morph into anger as she thought about what had been taken from her. The only person other than Hendel that she could count on.

And let's not forget that entire ship of quarians who agreed to shelter this little human girl. After some of them died preventing her re-capture by Cerberus.
