Kai Leng takes a call directly with the Illustive Man through an unsecure apartment "holo-pad" while on Omega... that... seems really, really stupid, given everything we've seen so far regarding TIM and Cerberus. :?

See this whole book is filled with bloopers hilarious.

How can you not know what olives are? Heard of olive oil?

No, no. I see it now. Had to zoom in. Black olives. Congrats, you win the Vegan prize.

Don't worry, Cerberus is paying for the call.

This bit just pissed me off anew:

The first emotion Gillian experienced was a deep and abiding sorrow. She was forever cut off from the only person who hadn’t been paid to care about her.

Yeah, except for that guy standing right next to you who quit his job and repeatedly risked his life in order to protect you, including staying to watch over you on the Idenna, completely cut off human and galactic society.

Hell, If Kahlee had been decently written, people could see that that was the case with her too. After all, she was with Hendel all the way. The only thing she didn't do was stay at the Idenna with her, but she risked herself for her sake as well.

Dammit Dietz...

Speaking of which...

Gillian’s sorrow began to morph into anger as she thought about what had been taken from her. The only person other than Hendel that she could count on.

And let's not forget that entire ship of quarians who agreed to shelter this little human girl. After some of them died preventing her re-capture by Cerberus.

Those ****ers were just using her for her piles of money.

Or something.

IMO the total decline started from Andersson plan to get information from that eye patch batarian. I recall term "idiot ball" used in previous thread but it feels like everybody is having a one in this novel. I must give up for today, I just can't manage it's not even funny anymore, though I'v seen lot's of spoilers.

So, i'm reading this book right now. And while i see there are several glaring issues with the lore, that isn't my main gripe about this book.

The author is so weak at describing the characters, their emotions and their motivations.
Case in point: When Kahlee meets Gillian, all she does is act suprised and give her a hug. This is a reunion that Ascension and Retribution have been building up to. Kahlee never mentions Gillians recovery from her condition, or asks how life among the quarians was. The plotline immidately switches to summarising, and we go on with the next scene. Major anticlimax :(

Still no response from Bioware on how they allowed this book to be published?

It's like all of the characters are all carrying one giant Idiot Ball - crazy.

Its day one. I honeslty didn't think they would respond but, I was crossing my fingers. They may or may not respond at all.

It feels like such a low budget fanfic, that Casey Hudson would probably have nightmares about it if he read it.

Also, Kai Leng apparently travels from Illium to the Citadel on a vessel using normal FTL.

What page does it say that on?

Because that makes no sense at all.

Illium is in the Terminus System.

So, she can count on them, and thus we deduce that they care about her. But since her father was the only one that cared about her without getting paid... What, is she offended those two were being paid for their work in Ascension? Really?

I'm giving Dietz way too much credit aren't I?

Unless she's paying them to care about her! That's it! It all makes sense now! And since they're on her pay roll (it must be her allowance from her Quarian family!), she can trust them!

Thinking about these things is making me dizzy. And possibly stupider. Someone help!

Sure. That'd only take about...three thousand years, give or take.

Oh, and....

Because the more material they had to look at the less time would be spent on each individual item, thereby increasing the likelihood that agents would miss the fact that his cane could be converted into a rifle barrel— that the ornate carving set acquired on Illium included a razor-sharp knife that could be used for slicing just about anything.

You mean like how they responded to the initial "WTF?" Arrival received?

I'm not holding my breath. Arrival was bad, but it was only an hour long, most of it consumed with mindless shooting. This, this is hundreds of pages worth of "F*ck you, Drew Karpyshyn."

But as its already been said, it is day one, so there's hope... I... Hope.

So, Kai had the Mass Effect equivalent of the pimp cane from Saints Row?

54. Dietz even explains (incorrectly) that you can't see anything when a vessel is using FTL.  Also, he seems to think FTL in ME is hyperspace:

But after entering normal space Leng could see the incredible space station that functioned as the political, economic, and cultural center of the galaxy.

Glad I wasn't around then when people were blowing up Arrival. I loved that DLC personally.
