Also, the silence from Bioware is deafening. They are really just waiting for this whole thing to blow over. Nice to know how they deal with problems when they let crap onto the market. Just keep quiet and hope no one (else) notices. Cowards.
The base of operations IS in Canada.
I'm sorry, but that's the funniest thing I've read all day!!! Well done.

I think it would be neat if as a form of apology, Hudson and Walters read the entirety of the book.

Btw, the effort to keep people from mentioning 09 F9 wasn't really successful - but I'm sure you'll do much better keeping the google link secret. The laws of physics don't apply to BW after all.
As for the errors, some seem very nitpick (e.g. asari councillor objecting to the embassy - no one said that everything the councillor says is completely accurate and correct; she could be lying to advance her own agenda for all we know) and other are, arguably, not errors (if asari don't use their partner's DNA then reproduction is indeed asexual, and Liara's comment cited in the list of errors regarding the asari being a mono gendered species is neither here nor there)
As for the book, judging from the preview it looks very much like a bad fanfic that desperately tries cram gameplay mechanics into an awkwardly written text.
Further, I don't really enjoy reading about people's entrails being sucked out of their torso in a vacuum but I get guess heavy gorn is the only requirement for a ME novel.

Your scenario is probably closer to the truth than you would like. I know this a business and a company is out to make money first and foremost but I would like to think there's still room for actually caring about the products you're putting out for fans.JoePilot wrote...
No news to report, but as the silence from Bioware grows longer, I can't help but wonder if they were in a rush and just never reviewed this book before it went out, or is the more likely (in my opinion) scenario that they just thought no one would care that the book was written at a fourth grade level, and with a callous disregard for the canon?

After the robbery on Aria's bank, it is stated that she had attacked the hideouts of the two groups that had robbed her.
However, over an hundred pages later, Aria muses to herself that there were no reprisals for the attack on her bank.

I believe the later. They surelly didn't think that BSN will band together over this.JoePilot wrote...

I'll have to disagree with you on that one; I found the other novels a bit too heavy on the graphic violence for my taste.izmirtheastarach wrote...

Yeah even Drew calls the asari asexual in Revelation so that's not too big of a mistake.AlexMBrennan wrote...

Anyone care to tell me what the official error count is up to? Or have we stopped counting now that the wiki has basically thrown up their hands and said **** this ****?
The last I saw here on the thread was 88 Lore Errors. YEOWCH.
Indeed. Zero quality control. I refuse to beleive Mac Walters reviewed that.
I would be incredibly alarmed if he did. I don't think ANY Mass Effect writer read that.

Your certainly entitled to that opinion. However Dietz has teenagers blowing each other's brains out here, and Biotics tearing people into meaty chunks. So I kind of feel like it was racheted up a touch.

Today is the official release date, and corporations are not exactly nimble. They're large and bureaucratic. Plus, there's another large corporation involved: the publisher. It's unrealistic to expect anything at this point.

They apparently seem to think this book is non-canonical...I'd really like to hear what they have to say if the found out it actually is canon...

So I stayed awake a moment longer to listen to them...
I like how the one guy who doesn't hold video game books in high regard (oh you can taste the scorn) only speaks about the really small errors rather than the blatantly wrong things, like say; the volus pressure suits. Or a character reappearing from death for no reason.

I've noticed a lot of the media does this. I think they quickly skim the document.
Maybe a note/list prelude should be added to the doc for all media outlets pointing out the most blatant errors. You know, things that would be understandable to non-mass effect players/readers.

I am glad they called the amount of crazy errors "ridiculous," but they seem to be treating it like people raging over the leaked beta script all over again. This is much, much worse than what I've read of that beta script.
They do focus on more piddly plot discrepencies...but they do mention the timeline errors, which would have been easily rectified should someone have taken the time to notice them.
The fact they don't realize it's canon is more understandable...a lot of sci-fi spin-off/tie-in books either aren't canon or are "semi-canon." But, Mass Effect books are canon...do the homeworks, people.

I think he has the characters use those more often to pay for things than actual universal credits.
