We could always do what the Wiki did to classify errors, and use color. Like red would be major errors that are quite evident and just wreck continuity, yellow errors would be fairly substantial errors, but ones that could be explained away, and the other errors would be more nitpicky.

We could imitate that though I would like to take a somewhat harsher approch than they did.  I can understand wanting to stick to the idea of material=canon as much as possible considering the ongoing nature of the wiki but we can be a little less forgiving than them

Also we should still pick a few out for the note to the media if it is used.

It would be better to re-arrange so the most important are first and easy to find, so people can't miss it.

I know, that's why I said it would make it easier since I believe some mentioned it would take a lot of work to sort it properly without throwing off the organization.

Yeah, I'm not suggesting we fully use their style, but the idea is sound. And I would prefer to leave which errors to use to the discretion of the media source in question.

Do we want to steer the media to certain errors, or do we want to do a note that stresses that this book IS CANON and then direct them to our color-coded errors, particularly the "red" ones?

Can someone pm the general synopsis for the story, I've read all the others books but I don't want to purchase this one. Thanks!

I like the way you think. :D

We can say something like, "Note to the general media: We would like to stress that Mass Effect: Deception has been deemed as canon by the writers at BioWare, (phrase that so that it's as accurate/precise as possible, of course) despite glaring continuity errors, the worst of which are highlighted in RED (<---- actually make that word red) below."

So, anyone have any final suggestions or issues with the coloration idea?

Seeing your avatar, I read that in Anderson's voice, and it made me laugh.  Thank you.

I think it's best to point out the best examples for the media. Often, they are trying to rush a story out or merely want a quick synopsis, so they skim and see some "nitpicking."

In the end, it's up to them if they want to use the suggested errors. They can always read the document in full if they want to pick their own examples.

Well they can use whatever they please, I'm just suggesting that since several sources have described up as nitpicky we pick out the offensive  and egregious that they can note instead of going "LOL NERDS!".  You really want some notice? Let people know about the fact that autism is just something that you grow out off and any gay man, even the only one in the game universe, can be turned straight.   On the lore side people returning from the dead isn't nitpicky, they are dead! :D

So, back in "Ascension", Cerberus was willing to attack the Quarian flotilla to retrieve Gillian and now that they have a perfect opportunity to do so, Kai Leng would rather stab her with a tooth brush?

They spent untold amounts of credits honing her biotics, but instead of capturing her for study TIM and Kai Leng decide a date with dental hygiene is better.

Agreed. I think the whole point of stressing the biggest offenses is to avoid another "nerds will be nerds" article.

And when Shepard says "I heard you all died?"
They say "Funny, we heard the same about you."

EDIT:  Even better:  "You must have been DECIEVED."

THIS IS BRILLIANT.

... but it's not going to happen. They aren't in ME3, unfortunately, unless someone can sneak in a reference in literally the last few days before it goes gold.

My sister is autistic, I can definitely attest to THAT (in bold). That has to be a "red" error.

Alright, it looks like we'll be going through with the coloration deal - I recommend using the list below as the basis for our RED ENTRIES (yep, all caps) and everyone just use your own judgment on everything else.

Biggest Errors:
LORE
5, 10, 14, 16, 27, 28

TIMELINE
3, 4, 5, 6

TECHNOLOGY
2, 7

CHARACTERS
1, 7, 11

Just a quick FYI: I don't know if it's just me, but the doc has several very odd errors on it.

ex (C&P from doc)--

6. Deception claims the asari found the Citadel first and subsequently learne tto use mass effect technolog - The asari cosould not have reached the Citad withluout using mass effect technolo.y? [ErrorL: ore]

There are several other ares where letters have been moved, spaces added, and commas inserted. It's a bit difficult to read through. Thought someone with access would like to be informed.

On the topic of making the more severe errors stand out, if we're going to use colors, I'd suggest keep the number of colors as low as possible, from three to five. Also, keep in mind color blindness, if you can!  My dad is red-green color blind, and he has a heck of time in some video games because red = bad, green = good, and he can't tell the difference between either of them and yellow.

I suggest only have three levels (harkening back to this God-aweful fiction), and having them be white as the lowest, blue as mid-ground, and either orange or red as a major issue. If you want to add more levels (and I'd suggest no more than two if you do) then don't add green or yellow. Maybe grey or black instead.

Oh jeez, just saw this. I've only marked the initial red entries thus far. How legible is that for both color blind, and non color blind folks?

Could you make the text inside the RED entries WHITE? It would make it much easier to read.

Yeah, you're gonna have to come up with another way apart from highlighting it - black text on red is damn hard to read.

Maybe change the color of the text to red itself instead?

Sorry, I was going in reverse order with the white text, it should be better now.
