Seriously? That image with the difference between dislike and hatred is nitpicking at its finest.
yes it is. it's what is being done to every writer who sends their written work off to an editor - well usually anyway. given the editor knows what they're doing. so again: Dietz produced this bad writing AND after that, his editor didn't care enough to point out obvious writing mistakes such as this.
In the contex of this paragraph, dislike does technically work. Dislike and hatred are subjective calls and so therefore he might have a greater dislike, or hatred as he viewed it, of something else. The way he talks about extremism is in regards to social norms and so in a very tolerant or politically correct society, dislike could be viewed as extreme. In our society there are people who racially profile and don't feel comfortable around other races, if they voiced said complaints or thoughts then they would be viewed as a racist but I doubt many view themselves as such.
Mass Effect isn't in our society. It's the Mass Effect universe. And Kai Leng has been established as a character who hates aliens. Don't make me go back to Retribution and find the passage where his disgust is shown more than once. But I can do that because yes, I am that much of a nit-picker.
A lot of things can "technically" work but that doesn't make it good writing. For example if I say "you have pretty eyeballs" it still is technically correct because i am trying to compliment you on your eyes. You catch my drift?

Would your example from Retribution be from his point of view? What others might view as disgust or hatred, in his own mind he might just think of it as general dislike.
Your example doesn't really work because that's a set phrase. In this paragraph it seems the writer is trying to give an insight into the mind of a character of whom others might view as extreme but he himself doesn't see it that way.

even more so...from Leng's point of view he doesn't simply NOT LIKE aliens, he hates them. from Leng's pov he wouldn't just use the word "not like" but something much stronger.

Wow, I go to sleep and wake up to 324 pages. People just aren't letting this go. I can't believe BW still isn't saying anything.
At least I'm not. I want to know why they endorsed this POS by sticking their brand into it and conning me into paying money for the pleasure of seeing my favourite characters and the lore of the universe I'm interested in butchered in such a nonchalant way.

That sounds more like a contradiction of lore than bad writing of itself. I may be giving Dietz too much credit though.

i consider it to be both: contradiction of lore and bad writing.

Maybe their strategy is simply to shut up until all the fuss dies down.

All these news feeds from gaming web sites must be putting some pressure on them to respond.

They better goddamn not. I want to know if they intend do endorse this as established canon.
I also want to know if they are testing what's the lowest quality c**p they can sell to their fans without there being any fuss about it. I want them to comment on this and acknowledge our outrage.
Bioware products have always been a safe buy to me, and if this is not the case anymore, I want to know so I can take my money to somewhere else.

This is so cringeworthy to read...although some seem a bit nitpicky (like number 25, I don't see why that isn't a fair thing for Anderson to say...I mean the Geth ships DID do a number to the Citadel from the looks of the cutscene at the end of ME 1.)
Mostly because the trap was never sprung. Anderson wouldn't be there if that was the case. None of the characters would be there in that case.

Yes, but I think the point is if the Geth attack had been successful every organic lifeform would be organic paste by now. So, given that having to do some extensive repairs to the Citadel sounds kind of small in comparison
