I'm still offended by that little detail in the novel.

More than sexuality changing from one novel to another? Or Kai Leng pissing on a vase?

Think of the vase!

I am not sure what purpose it serves. Gillian was going to lose from the start.

No one, and I repeat no one kills TIM unless his name is Shepard.

Was it to tie up loose ends with the novel? Okay there's a good portrayal of gang wars and life on the Citadel and Omega, but what's good in that regard is overshadowed by the massive lore issues of it.

I did like how Leng and TIM where portrayed though. For once Cerberus actually comes off as capable and intelligent. Gillian dies, Aria fails in her goal, Anderson fails, Sanders fails and TIM and Leng win. Wasn't surprising but the plot was done well.

Aria is capable and intelligent as well. So is Anderson. Don't know about the others, but I assume they had their moments when they weren't written by Dietz. It makes little sense for either of them to be easily outdone by Cerberus, especially since Aria controls Omega.

You do realize it kinda makes sense right?

Before people tear appart the writter of Deception perhaps they should look at the begining of ME2.

Yeah you know, Death is such an insiginifcant issue right? Burning up in the atmosphere is no biggie and so is the speed at which Shepard's body would land on the planet.

Aria's goal was to kill Leng, but TIM finds out and hatches a plan to save him from the Biotics who took him prisoners. It's more of a question of good fortune then anything else.

I didn't say Aria was stupid mind you, she's not any stretch. She did fail however.

Are you joking? Killing Gillian was the dumbest thing ever, especially considering how much they invested in her. They should have captured her, but actually they weren't even the least bit interested in that. If anyone who wants TIM dead needs to die then Cerberus must kill most of the galactic population.

Lets not even go to the cereal antics and cigarette tricks.

Gillian is Jack, trying to control someone like her is just plain stupid as has been shown many times before.

As for most people wishing TIM was dead, not really. Most people don't like or trust Cerberus but that's different.

I suspect so. Nobody can ever write a novel with those characters. Even Kahlee's role in ME3 means she won't be usable as a novel character in the future, because of [spoiler reason].

For once Cerberus actually comes off as capable and intelligent.

I'd have to disagree here - TIM's pontificating about humanity's fragility while staring at glaciers seemed terribly hackneyed and full of platitudes. His ME2 dialogues were much better written, in my opinion.

Then there's the fact that Cerberus worries about its credibility, because it might be blamed for the Grayson affair.

Cerberus. A terrorist organisation that officially doesn't exist, worrying about its credibility.

It also does opinion polling. On alien planets. To find out whether aliens like them.

Think of the vase!

Sadly no one thinks about them anymore. They have feelings too! :crying:

Their response is taking their sweet time isn't it? On one hand I'm cool with that, since it means they're (probably) thinking of the best way to address this (hopefully doing the right thing). But on the other hand, all this quietness is... unsettling...

Cerberus has drugs capable of neutralising an asari matriarch's biotics.

It's in the lore.

TIM attacked the Migrant fleet three years (six, in Dietz time) before Deception to try and get Gillian back. He sent an entire Cerbeus commando squad. Killing her is ludicrously out of character.

If we're going to go that route then the entirety of ME should be snorted at as well. FTL? HAH, science-fiction, u so funny.

She finds out Cerberus killed her daughter. That should give enough rage and determination to kill one god damn guy. But alas...

So, still no official response. And this thread is going strong as ever. Good.

On one hand I kinda feel sorry for them. On the other, they have brought it on themselves, by giving this novel the OK and even saying it's a good read. It really makes me think they will say just about anything thier corporate sponsors tell them to. You know, stuff like this. twitter.com/#!/CaseyDHudson/status/101362747836604417

And Bioware making Cerberus the enemy you fight 40% of the game in ME3 is better? People know Cerberus exists, or at least almost every bloody person in ME2 knows about them.

Cerberus has been retconned so many times it's not even funny anymore. First it's a Rogue Black Ops group, then it was founded on it's own as a small organization, then it gets an army.

The writters went to great pains to try and explain FTL, they took NONE to explain Shepard's death. NONE.

You also seem to not have read the book. I have, all of it.

Considering that the only vase in the house is currently filled with candy, I decided that was wholly unnecessary. XD

The cereal, on the other hand...it's mine now. :D

I do admit that I would have wanted for Cerberus to capture Gillian, and for her to join them or something. The whole age and autism thing is done very very poorly but I do like her as a character in the novel, besides the whole rage issue.

She's smart, powerful and manipulative.

My point is there are some bigger issues with the ME unvierse overall. if killing Gillian out of character, then trying to kill Shepard in ME3 is madness.

Well nice to see there's at least one user trying to convince us that pessimism is the best route :P

Naw, pessimism is downtrodden and dull. Covert sarcasm and irony perverting everything you say into a normal and a maliciously obstrusive statement however is the way of life!

Now if you excuse me, I will donate some plasma.

The characters who know about Cerberus in detail during ME2 are, respectively, a top-ranking Alliance soldier, a top-ranking quarian operative and several of the galaxy's most notorious criminals, bounty hunters, soldiers and scientists.

The Citadel Council officially put Cerberus on a terrorist blacklist. As overloaded with news and entertainment as the fine citizens of the galaxy are, I'm sure many of them have heard the name of the pro-human extremist organisation, particularly when humanity are the target of many alien species for expanding too quickly and becoming too influential.

But for the organisation itself to worry about its credibility? To do polling?

To do polling on alien worlds, to find out how much aliens don't like them?

It's laughable.

“Well done,” the Illusive Man said approvingly.

“Our polling shows that even though members of the other races tend to have a negative impression of Cerberus, most humans feel we’re a positive influence. And I know that your efforts play an important part in creating and reinforcing that impression.”

"I cannot even," he typed feelingly.
