There's something called "willing suspension of disbelief", is what makes you believe that FTL is possible and enjoy a sci-fi story, but when is pushed to far, you break the suspension of disbelief and you ruin it. Rebuilding Shepard, and with his memories intact neverless, is pushing it too far for even sci-fi standards. Yet we have here, marked with red the batarian raid of pavalen because that is imposible.

The diffrence is that the batarian slave raid on Palavan requires willing suspension of disbelief of the lore already put down in the ME universe.

Shepard coming back to life is willing suspension of disbelief of our own universe

IGN article? Huh, neat.

Maybe we'll finally get a proper response.

Jeff seriously needs to update the OP with this.

Seriously, I'd settle for a book that had the actual Kahlee in it at all.

I wonder how they would react if the next Call of Duty had the military composed entirely of princesses riding unicorns into battle?

Even though that would be an awesome game.

I would play that just to annoy them. :D

Not so sure. Did you hear about Arthur C. Clarke: Final Oddyssey?  Same situation - Frank Poole is kick out of ship by mad comp HAL and bring back to life after nearly 1000 (!), because absolute zero temperature in space cyogenicaly froze him.

Jeff mentioned yesterday that he has trouble accessing a computer this time of the week - he'll get to it when he can.

This isn't the place to discuss how ME2 affected the Mass Effect universe - I happened to enjoy it, but different strokes.

I enjoyed it too, my point is that people is complaining about stuff in Deception that isn't new to Mass Effect.

On the IGN article:

Scarr-Oputhi wrote...

"turning Mass Effect's only gay male character straight and then killing him"

I can see the first part of that sentence being an error, but not the second.

I saw this too, but just like the giantbombcast, commenters seem to take great pangs to seperate themselves from the "nerds" that take tie-in fiction seriously. It's like, who the hell do you think you are? You're commenting on a games site!

We like the universe, so we strive for quality in the materials they present to us, games or not. This is no exception. If that qualifies us as "nerds", so be it, but I'd like to think that we're doing this because we care about the quality of our gaming experience, no matter what it reaches to or whatever forms it takes.

Movie critics should do the same about a tie in novel of their favorite movie. It's the same for us!

The Turians are a species where serving in the military provides citizenship. So everyone has received military training at the very least, and they have the biggest fleet in the galaxy (ignoring the quarians.)

And Batarians, shunned by the galaxy, beaten and downtrodden...manage to pull of a slave raid on the Turian homeworld?

That's not breaking the suspension of disbelief. That's tapdancing on it with anvils. <_<

Yeah, she had emotions and did stuff to move the plot along.

This new Kahlee is just there to screw Anderson and to react unemotionally to stuff.

AWWW YEAH!

And I just had to catch up though twenty or so pages, THANKS GUYS.

Was wondering when they'd catch on (and screw the ****** commenters, they b*tch about anything and everything on IGN), hopefully this bring higher attention of the mess that is Deception to more people.

Good thing you came up with that color-coding scheme last night, Yuoaman, that should make things a lot easier for people to sort through when reading the Document.

Yeah, and with a 100 year old freighter... with which they were only able to get one slave who just happened to be a general or something.

Because that's so reasonable.

Yeah, I don't mind being called a nerd - in fact I recognize that I am - I just resent it when it's used as an insult like many of these people are. YOU ARE COMMENTING ON A VIDEO GAME NEWS SITE COMPLAINING ABOUT PEOPLE LIKING VIDEO GAME-RELATED STUFF. THE. ****.
