The diffrence is that the batarian slave raid on Palavan requires willing suspension of disbelief of the lore already put down in the ME universe.
Shepard coming back to life is willing suspension of disbelief of our own universe
This comment is awesome and you should feel awesome.
It's a question of internal consistency, I think.
I mean, the universe already has magical element zero, biotics, various alien species and super-advanced technology. Since it's never been proven that enough time, money and resources
can't bring a sufficiently preserved body back to life, in the universe of Mass Effect, I'm willing to suspend disbelief and accept that it can occur. That's not even mentioning the ambiguity: several characters including Shepard seem to suggest the Commander wasn't technically 'dead' when they were recovered. We know Liara found the body in this state:
"The drell, named Feron, tells Liara that Shepard's body had been recovered in a stasis pod, and is "neither dead nor alive""
But Palaven?
A 100-year old batarian slave ship with no stealth technology planning, executing and escaping from a slaving raid on the turian homeworld, in the presence of the most powerful military in Citadel space and on a planet where every citizen over the age of 15 has had rigorous military training?
