So it occurs to me that the reason we're not getting more thread "views" is because the constant posting is keeping this thread near the top of the page, where 'stickied' threads reside, and are often ignored. I know that I hardly ever look at the stickies anymore.

Maybe we should try to increase the time between posts somewhat to allow this thread to migrate lower on the page and catch more people's attention?

Just a thought. 5-6 minutes between posts would be more than sufficient.

Not to nitpick, or cause any ill-will, but I wonder if it has to do with the *Inspired by a true story edition* part in the title. Unless I'm missing something, it just sounds like the thread is about a real life experience, rather than the exuberant amount of errors & poor writing in the....book.

If I am missing the meaning, can someone kindly explain it to me please.

Thread title has nothing to do with it. Just ignore the total amount of views.

The idea of a strong female character, who is good looking and highly intelligent does peak my interest.

Thing is that Sanders is just a Mary Sue.

And not calling an attractive female character a "****-tease" speaks to my interests.

You know, as a woman. Who has to deal with unwanted sexual come-ons/innuendos in almost regular basis.

Wait.

The letter asks for Deception to not be recognized as canon but then goes on to say they have no demands? So that's a request and not a demand, right? Why would you make demands? Is this a negotiation? Is Bioware aware there is a negotiation? They are a producer of a product, we are consumers. A price is set. You have a choice to purchase. The negotiation is personal. It's up to you whether or not you are going to try to sway your friends but even then, that's a personal choice. Not a negotiation. Will you be taking metaphorical or figurative hostages? Cos if that's the case, I must have taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

The tone of the letter is very unprofessional. Platitudes mixed with insults. Examples: stating that they recognize artistic integrity then goes on to say the writing of the book as a lazy way to cash in.

Nice way of alienating Bioware.

I am not saying the book is not without it's errors, it has many errors. What I am saying is, be careful how you represent the fan base. Not everyone is going to jump on the "hate" bandwagon. Such as myself. Seeing such a low blow to the company that gave us the very reason for being on this forum is haphazard at best, unappreciative at worst.

The story is a story. I take it on its own story irregardless of how it is being marketed. I do not feel betrayed or feel as if Bioware failed me in anyway. They are a company. Dietz is a writer who was paid to do a job, he did it. I will not be blaming anyone for the outcome. It is what it is.

Sad to see so much mockery, vehenmence and vitriol being spewed. Thanks for the representation of this fan, but no thanks. I'll see myself out.

In a future DLC assignment for ME3 (because it's way too late now to even think of incorporating in the main game) there should be a small scene where a small-time assassin tries to sneak up on Shepard with a toothbrush only for Shep to turn around and after killing the assassin automatically say "Really?"

Anderson's quip immediately following Nick's demise reads like Nick wasn't even a 'red shirt', he was so irrelevant.

Kahlee: "Two of my former students, both of whom I regarded as almost children, were just brutally murdered, one by a toothbrush. My former colleague and close friend was just killed. I'll say some meaningless random words about how they were all troubled people, plant a tree and then-"

Anderson: "Hey, stop talking, it's a two mile walk back to the hotel. We'd better go!"

Kahlee: "This rainforest is amazing."

*sex*

Exactly. On both counts.

Ugh, and that last scene makes me cringe at how horribly it just tosses all the deaths aside. She showed more sympathy for Grayson at the end of Retribution, a man she saw at best once or twice, than she does for her friend and students which were a part of her daily life for years. Years!

Nope. They seem to be ignoring EVERYTHING.

They'll either stay silent or "announce" something soon and are currently planning on how they are going to proceed with this.

Essentially, Bioware is a company. They can't make steps that would make them look worse than they look now.
Which is why if this fiasco continues any further, they will have to respond in SOME way.

...it's still funny that if they had stopped this by declaring the book non-canon as soon as the first flames appeared, they would not suffer from this international issue. Should have responded eariler.

Which is how they've responded to every question and concern in regard to ME3 as well.  These boards would be a much happier place if Bioware communicated candidly with it's fans.  I'm not saying they should "tell them what they want to hear."  It's not like we wouldn't understand the challenges they are facing, or maybe when something is out of their hands, or to late.  A LITTLE communication goes a long way.

Wow look at the can of worms this has opened. When I read the IGN article, where I first heard about this, I was in shock that Bioware would have let this be released. I second the need for it to be labeled as non cannon, it it isn't then it is a disaster awaiting a massive backlash from the fans who feel violated that something could defile something that all fans of the Mass Effect series stand for.

Oh hell yes. Join the club. Or the operation, really.

Death from toothbrush kinda reminds that "kinetic / biotic barriers alone won't protect you", but even this doesn't justify completely anticlimatic death scene of main character.

If anyone should be killed with a toothbrush it should be Donnel Udina.

I second that statement lol... I've been trying to cancel my pre-order from Amazon for the last 3 days and it says error everytime :/ ... i guess i'll have to pay postage to get rid of the poo.

Huh, this.

I understand that TIM and Kai Leng are needed for ME3, but it's one story to say "Gillian went on rampage, boosted own biotic power to 9000 just to not use them in final battle with Kai Leng and get killed in absolutely anticlimatic way" and another stoty to say, for example, "Gillian, united with Anderson, Sanders, Mitra, Donahue and some quarians, stormed TIM's space station, forcing TIM and Kai Leng to flee, and uncovered some Cerberus plot not known before which will be used in ME3 and probably met some other noticeable Cerberus characters. Bad news: some people got killed in process"

It would have helped to figure that out if Leng was in the cover.

Which brings me back to the point of why this book even exists. Gillian won't suceed, and I don't really give a **** about her.

Let's face it, the only person who can and possibly will kill Leng and TIM is Shepard.

well, we knew that she won't succed from the start, TIM and Leng are in ME3.

We obviously have a different definition of dictionary. Mine includes common sense, which seems to be lacking in yours. Oh wait, no, that would also include critical thinking skills. My bad. Sorry, I wasn't more black and white in my sentences.

Book is book. Don't care. You care. Too bad for you. Deal with it.

Simple enough for you?

I love how every now and then we get someone making a self-righteous speech about how "we" should be representing ourselves. For a massive group-coordinated effort, I think everyone has done a fine job in keeping poised and making sure we stay as respectful as possible.

I'm not that guy but the intent of my post was to insult the fictional Sanders, not you or other women. I apologize if it did offend you, however, I think women of your type could tone down your sensitivity. My ex-girlfriend used to get mad if I called someone a "p*ssy" but she called people "dicks" all the time.

A rational, critical thinking person does not come to a forum looking for a fight. Your tone is highly disrespectful. Argue your opinion, but don't flame bait.

Hella good post, tbh. I thought it was very presumptuous of whoever wrote that letter to assure them that they aren't demanding that anyone be fired... as if we do or should have control over something like that.
