This book is so bad, just hearing about it gave me cancer.

My condolences.

In that case we should be near-death.

Naw, I survived stage 3 skin cancer. Book probably doesn't give you stage 4. Stage 1 at most xD

Someone needs to make a video of different characters from different series, games, films etc reacting poorly to Deception. Like a montage of suck.

I love the ideas some of y'all come up with.

I've got no video editing program, but all the video should be easy to find from places like youtube. As for the editing, do we have any people who can do that? We've got a couple of .gifs and that really nice Wrex-holding-Deception picture. As well as Jase's book burning. Never thought I would ever support such a thing.

Ah, it's nice to see the community come together.

Hey, flame baits, keep this on topic.

Deception is a prime example of what happens when you hand a solid, burgeoning series (with admitted flaws) to an outsider. BioWare needs to respond to this soon. At least before the ME3 demo arrives. Unfortunately, I'm betting that they're just going to wait for the massive praise all the gaming websites will throw at the demo to overwhelm the negative response to Deception.

...maybe this was why they pushed back the demo so far? XD
/obviouslynot.

It's not even handing it to an outsider that's the problem though.  Had there been plenty of research done, I feel like there could have been a decent book.  The examples given where the book, games, and lore don't come together is the most jarring fact.

I still have to read Drew's books before I read this one if I want to have all the context before I, too, pick it apart. After seeing all these errors with the universe on Google Docs, I am completely astounded at how this...thing...even got the okay to be published.

Several years ago I read Dietz's Halo book. The story wasn't that bad, but I found it incredibly lacking in detail. Not only that, but the numerous grammatical errors and typos. I can't believe he was even able to write this book. His is more like terrible fan fiction. D:

Granted, I haven't read the book myself, but the fact that he would dismiss a disease is just way beyond terrible...and as to why he was approached to write about a universe so expansive and huge when he can barely describe anything is beyond me.

Thank you to the people who have found the errors, I was initially excited over the book's release and had planned on purchasing it. BSN, you have saved me around $10. Thanks. ;)

If I can take away anything from Deception, it's the need to have a gyrocycle ready after doing anything.

They truly are a necessity when you want to get around on the surface of Omega.  Power skates just cannot compare.

I'm expecting dramatic readings myself. Of the relay-sex-jump and cereal-thievery scenes at least.

That would be epic.

Why is everything bigger and eight??

If someone wants to make a montage of reactions to Deception, just let those able-people do it themselves.

I'd rather we not try to set it up ourselves. Heh.

So glad we could save you money. In the future, look for reactions before purchasing, and maybe you'll be saved AGAIN. Hah.

If you want to discuss these matters then make your own thread, this one already has its own topic, as you can plainly see.

Yes, yes. If we have anything more to say to each other we'll take it to PMs, however even the on-topic material of this thread warrants it being locked. What did this page consist of other than various people saying:

"-Deception sucks.
-Yes, yes it does.
-I hate Deception in addition.
-Me too."

Gotta come up with some new material, guys.

Getting back on topic. The issue with me is that too much of the Mass Effect world is misrepresented in the book. And that this misrepresentation wasn't caught before the book was published. Or if it was caught they simply didn't care. Us as fans spend the money so that the series can continue and flourish. Mass Effect was the first game series that got me to read a tie in book. And I was quite surprised at how decent the book was and was quite excited to read the follow up books. That said I did have some serious reservations about the book when I saw Drew wasn't the author. In the end its too bad that my initial fears came true.

I don't think we will end up with any response from Bioware. And I am completely fine with that. We are getting our voice out and hopefully Bioware will learn from this.

It's been an honour to be part of a BioWare Social Network that is fully united against a common enemy. No matter where future DLCs, updates and the upcoming Mass Effect 3 might take us, we will always remember in our darkest days this shining light of hope that we, as fans, can stand together.

The enemy you speak of can't be Bioware can it? Because if this was any other game company, no response would be expected or given. You think fans Infinity Ward's material would clammor for change after the release of a crap product? Of course not because Infinity Ward generally makes illogical crap and because they don't have the relationship with their fans the way Bioware does. We should remember that Bioware is a special developer and not take the disrespect too far.

Nnnnnno, our common enemy is this book.

Anyways...Kai Leng REALLY stole Anderson's cereal and pissed in his vase? Was this a joke or was it serious? I've also heard something about "Happy Bowls"...wtf.

EDIT: I support the dramatic reading. You will be my hero.

I'd love to see a shop of the Akira poster, with Anderson on the bike instead of Kaneda:

"Neo-Omega is about to explode!"

Pfft, learning from it isn't enough for me.

I'll push as hard as I can for the novel to be disavowed from the lore.

He stole Anderson's cereal, was GOING to ****** in a vase, and killed Gillian with a sharpened toothbrush.

Honestly, I'd want a Deception gyrocycle over the Featherhead.
