Know I'm a bit late but just thought I'd drop by to say that as a Mass Effect fan I completely support the cause, inspiring to see such unity, let's hope it gets results! And Deception still sucks.

Stick around, join in, help out.

Will do! Been catching up on the thread and the subject for a few hours now.

Catching up will take forever. At this point just stick to the newest pages.

So actually read/skimmed the book, mostly read the end where she's killed with a toothbrush, and in what has to be the least emotional, passionless, badly written, badly edited conclusion ever, I'm sure you're supposed to feel sorry she died, but that was bad comedy. I'm not even going to read the rest of the book.

That was so bad. SO very bad and the people who approved it should feel bad.

I'm not even sory that she died, because before she did Dietz had turned her into an idiotic rage-filled murderer.

Yes, for Dietz and Bioware, the novel is bad and they should feel bad.

Yeah, in my mind Gillian is still on the Idenna exploring the stars with Hendel and the quarians.

On a separate note regards the levels in biotics. Isn't it that their strength is pretty much their natural cap, it's not something they can raise or lower, they just get better at using that power through training? Like a young Asari just learning how to wield biotics wouldn't stand up to the techniques and discipline of say Samara? Who's had centuries of training and experience.

Or even Jack; but you can see what Cerberus screwing with her biotic power did to her.

On separate note thing: Jack mentioned that drugs may help overcoming pain limits, hence making biotics stronger (I think it was the part on Normandy when Shepard asks why Cerberus drugged children), so it's possible way to raise strength.

But the most important thing which limits biotic powers seems to be readiness to kill with own mind (Kaidan holding back before Eden Prime says hi). And Nick and Gillian killing people without shadow of hesitation always bugged me.

Okay that one was a miss.
It just occurred to me when I went through Omega parts that story is pretty much like some kiosk pulp gangster stories I read when I was a kid. Oldest I read were from the '50s.
Even the moral of the story aspect is there, don't disobey or rebel against your parents is there. There were often silly ways how stories ended very similar to soft porn paperbacks, lesbian character had a miracle cure and so on.

Yes, I understand you now. Whole Deception looks like patched from this and some bad B-action movies from 80s. Nick is served  like "romantic" rebel hero against system and such things.

That's my head-canon as well. And I won't let anyone else tell me otherwise.

Especially Dietz.

O____O

Yes.

And even that line, if it were used in conjunction with ponies in Deception, couldn't salvage it.

Another ridiculous issues with the Biotics here is that even they he describes these silly levels, all the Biotics are pretty much the same. Even when Gillian is running around killing people, I don't feel like she's any more powerful then "Aria's level 3 Biotics". In Ascension it's suggested that she is incredibly powerful.

Those are all names for the same city at various periods in history.

Gillian's a biotic prodigy.

Deception ignores this, as far as I can tell(I may be mistaken).

Exactly! This is ****ing copy paste story with another copy paste to get ME characters from previous novels in it, add some techno bable and there: ME product.

I also got vibes from 80's filks (Something from Omega crime gangs reminded me of the Cobra, awful Stallone film) and then there are things I can't get my finger on.
