So actually read/skimmed the book, mostly read the end where she's killed with a toothbrush, and in what has to be the least emotional, passionless, badly written, badly edited conclusion ever, I'm sure you're supposed to feel sorry she died, but that was bad comedy. I'm not even going to read the rest of the book.

That was so bad. SO very bad and the people who approved it should feel bad.

 


I still trying to understand how the book got approved to even have a that  nonsensical conclusion.   If this guy can be author then anyone  FF.net has a great  chance and should never give up. 

Mistakes were made 


and I - along with a lot people want answers. 


Hell  this author can't even get basic math right.. .one doesn't simple  go from 12 yrs old to 18 in 3 years.

IGN wrote an article about Deception and has asked Bioware for comment. Knowing IGN, they'll update the article with Bioware's response.

I've met so many awesome people thanks to this not-awesome book that I'm conflicted. Should I be happy that it's bad because of what resulted?

It just occurred to me when I went through Omega parts that story is pretty much like some kiosk pulp gangster stories I read when I was a kid. Oldest I read were from the '50s.
Even the moral of the story aspect is there, don't disobey or rebel against your parents is there. There were often silly ways how stories ended very similar to soft porn paperbacks, lesbian character had a miracle cure and so on.

Yes, I understand you now. Whole Deception looks like patched from this and some bad B-action movies from 80s. Nick is served  like "romantic" rebel hero against system and such things.

Exactly! This is ****ing copy paste story with another copy paste to get ME characters from previous novels in it, add some techno bable and there: ME product.

I also got vibes from 80's filks (Something from Omega crime gangs reminded me of the Cobra, awful Stallone film) and then there are things I can't get my finger on.

When he speaks about Aria's limo and biotic parade, it always reminds me classical Escape from New York and Escape from L. A. (I love Carpenters movies), where main bosses in cool bizzare cars do this to spread fear between floks in city.

I know that. Rofl, I was there when it was first posted. It was one of our original goals- Get IGN's attention, knowing they'd contact Bioware.

Deception brought people together. Finding a positive in something negative.

I just had a thought. Bioware bans everybody who posted here (Hold on let me finish). The resulting backlash causes a further uproar in the community because of the known issues of accessing games/dlc/etc. That'd be worse. Or better depending how you look at it. It's funny how it takes something like this to unite a group of people.

Ah, I didn't get that from those. For me it was like scenes from gangster films and books, mostly from 30's (IIRC) Chicago and special gear was just something glued in to make it look like sci-fi. I mean think of the scene where Aria's gang tries to kill Kai Leng when he was eating in a restaurant. Something like that happend in America for real and it inspired pulp writers, and obviouosly also Puzo.

Grim Skulls (Uurgh) and Biotic Underground look like gangsters who share different areas in town and join thein forces to make a bank robbery. Money would go to building a war chest (happend that time too) and expanding illegal alcohol business for example.

EDIT: Just to make clear: I think copying Carpenter's movies you mentioned is IMO possible as well.
