Holy crap.  I completely forgot about that.

Go Saren!

Well, looks like we have something to add to the doc, hmm?

By the way, question to everyone-

Would you consider this a "Hate Thread"?

Just a personal question. Cause we ARE showing pretty much nothing but disapproval for Deception, regardless of our willingness to accept positive remarks for the novel.

I wouldn't, we're all just very concerned about this issue. And most of the people with positive remarks haven't read much of the thread or even the book itself, while we have.

It's like he intentionally wrote these inaccuracies in just for us to play a game of "Where's Waldo?", only swap "Waldo" with "F*ck Ups".

And...12 to 18? Seriously?

She should've been 15, not 18. But of course, errors are EVERYWHERE.

Yeah but also isn't it implied that Leng limp at the start of the book is from the shoot that Anderson put in his legs at the end of Ascension... sooo his leg took what 3 years.. 6 years to heal?

But Gillian can get F****** cranial surgery in a back ally  and walk away like it ain't a big deal because that heals much faster than two non-lethal shoots to the legs...arrrg.

That's what I would say as well.

Although the book burning may have been an extreme way of getting our point across, hah.

Good news, everyone!  The folks at bioware are bending over backwards to fit Deception into the canon of Mass Effect!  In fact, the devs just released this exclusive in-game screenshot of the citadel showing their efforts!

Dietz, know what century you're writing in, next time.

I think I just bust a rib laughing.

No because Hate threads usually in conclude     Hatedom

We all have very rational and legit issues with  this author, this book and Bioware for even allowing this to even have the Mass Effect trademark  and logo attached to it.

This is not a senseless hating on character or something for no reason.  Though Humors there are some serious, serious issues about  the care and quality of the product that Bioware wants us to  by.

The book makes zero sense. Exactly. Hence disavowing being necessary.

I never thought about reading the novel before, and this certainly tells me that I shouldn't. Also, the author wrote an idiotic interpretation of the first Halo game. Spare yourself the pain.

Yeah, we're aware of Halo: The Flood. I had bad feelings nearly a year ago when I heard he was writing this, and look what happened.

ME novels are the first game tie-in books I have read but even I knew about Dietz reputation. Had a bad feeling when I heard that he would be writing the next book.

Then, what people have posted here, Deception is awful by even Dietz standards.

Perhpas, but people do express their "hate" in a very civil way.

Which I like quite much.

I am really curious how Dietz manages to find the names of certain characters, events or groups, but completely misses the part where those things had already been taken care of or killed off.

Hate or not, so far we've been rather civil about it. We're just voicing our opinions. The fact remains that the negatives far outweigh the positives.

I certainly try not to think of it as such. This might sound like the cheesiest thing anyone has read all month, but personally I view it more as a thread expressing how much entertainment we've gotten out of the franchise apart from this book (and whatever other issues any of us may have had) and thus our devotion to ensuring it upholds a measure of dignity.

Oh, for f***s sake....

“And they led me to what could be the Biotic Underground’s headquarters.”
“That’s huge,” Kahlee said. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go there.”
“Not
so fast,” Hendel said. “The place is bound to be full of Level Three
biotics all armed to the teeth. We wouldn’t stand a chance. Plus, if it’s there it’s behind a steel door inside a hill made out of solid rock.

So apparently Omega has f***ing hills all over the place.... how much you wanna bet that it's on Omega's "surface", to boot? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/pinched.png[/smilie]

Omega's got nice hills.

This picture has been on my computer since last year. I think I predicted the future.

I got my copy of the book today. Its been sat next to me in silence like a cheating partner since I was linked to this thread.

BAHAHA, since a year? You called it.

Oh and yes, OP looks much tidier now, nice job!

Anderson actually shot Kai Leng in Retribution, and it's only been a few months (supposedly).

Don't think too hard about it, though.

I loved the first three Mass Effect novels.

I'm seriously considering translating the entirety of Deception into a Rage Comic, however, using quotes and passages from the book with herpderp faces everywhere.

Technically, no, because Leng gets his legs shot up at the end of Retribution, which is suppose to take place a few months before Deception's timeline! :pinched:

Also of note, Nick was 15 in Retribution, so in the course of a few months to the events of Deception... he managed to age 3 years.
