Ahh, the cereal reference is brought up again.

Kai Leng and his cereal stealing antics really got this thread going in the first place.

And hate threads have far fewer references to cereal. In fact, most threads have fewer references to cereal... odd.

The world needs more cereal-references.

Wait a second, Saren destroyed the Grim Skulls in Revelation, guess that didn't happen too

Holy crap.  I completely forgot about that.

Go Saren!

Well, looks like we have something to add to the doc, hmm?

If anything, it might pass as an oddity. I looked it up & this is what i got:

Revelation page 124 -

The buyers were already inside: a group of gun-toting thugs with basic military training known as the Grim Skulls, one of the many private security organizations active in the Verge. The Skulls were small, a few dozen criminal mercenaries who had never been worth Saren's attention before tonight...

This could just be regarded as a gang who took up the name from hearing about the original group.

I am really curious how Dietz manages to find the names of certain characters, events or groups, but completely misses the part where those things had already been taken care of or killed off.

Searches for names and nothing else.

I'm thinking he got a clif-notes type synopsis from his handlers at Bioware, and just worked off of that.  I doubt they even told him about the ME "bible" of information.

I'm guessing they thought he would at least check his facts on the wiki.

Bad call, if that assumption was made.

You have to be remarkably lazy to get the context of the names right, but not the outcome of the characters or places the names belongs to. The resume of those characters are usually written on the same page, for God's sake.

Hell, fifteen minutes on the wiki page could turn up more accurate facts.

Could be, I'll move it over to the Oddities section because, in the big picture, it's a very minor detail.

Good news, everyone!  The folks at bioware are bending over backwards to fit Deception into the canon of Mass Effect!  In fact, the devs just released this exclusive in-game screenshot of the citadel showing their efforts!

Dietz, know what century you're writing in, next time.

You nearly owed me a new keyboard.

He nearly owed me a plane ticket to Edmonton.

After reading so much about that Turian Rickshaw: Am I to understand that any being capable of producing a rational thought would choose a Rickshaw steered by a Turian to stealthily follow someone?
Sure not suspicious at all, especially when looking at the vehicle crowded streets this takes place in xD

I was serious. I'm re-writing the book. Here is a re-write of the prologue. I'm hoping to try and get a chapter done a day. With today being just the prologue to gauge people's interest and support. This isn't being done as a back handed malicious slap to Dietz or BioWare. I'm doing this because I'm a fan. http://www.mediafire...v6gflhwbv1h6931

By the way, question to everyone-

Would you consider this a "Hate Thread"?

Just a personal question. Cause we ARE showing pretty much nothing but disapproval for Deception, regardless of our willingness to accept positive remarks for the novel.

Perhpas, but people do express their "hate" in a very civil way.

Which I like quite much.

Indeed. I'm still surprised on this. Sure, major hate was shown early on, but people are more civil than when about Origin.

I think it has become clear to most people that this book isen't based on spite, A agenda or a desire to ****** of fans..it's solely based on mind boggeling incompetence, people are more forgiving of that.

Like I said, we're making this happen, damn it.

The only thing less suspicious would be if they had been wearing the two halves of a horse costume.

Or covered themselves in leaves to pretend to be some bushes.

Hey guys, this whole Deception spectacle got me thinking.

What if this was done on purpose, just to get everyone's attention away from other things? You know, like the Origin uproar. The official Origin thread is nowhere to be seen right now. And in the grand scheme of things, Origin's implications were much more serious than a failed novel.
I mean, the team responsible for this mess would surely know that the fanbase would go berserk, if the novel was released in the form it was, when they reviewed it. It is so bad, that I refuse to believe that someone from Bioware (someone like Casey Hudson among others) would read through the novel and said it was great and gave it a green light.
Maybe I'm overthinking it, but still, it's something to think about.

Oh, one more thing regarding the original Grim Skulls; the planet Saren dealt with them on is called Juxhi.
(not too sure if that matters)

The worst thing is that I thought that perhaps I could forget the cereal killer aspect of this character but now it really doubt I can take this character seriously. If there is any sort of dramatic build up to where he enters in scene, it may actually be worse.

My game damn it.

sighs....

We tried to kill the Illusive Man,” the teenager said, as she gripped Kahlee’s hand. “But it didn’t work.” Gillian coughed and blood dribbled down her chin.

“I’m sorry,” Kahlee replied, by which she meant she was sorry about the choices Gillian had made, the people she had killed, and the fact that she was dying.

But Gillian was unaware of the subtleties involved. “It’s okay . . . At least I tried. But there’s something else . . . Something important.”

You know who else is missing out on the subtleties involved in this scene, Mr. Dietz?
Your f***ing readers! <_<
