He probably got the general tone and fled.

I might've done the same, I wouldn't blame or judge him if he did avoid it.

You have to think he recognizes the quality of his work - I mean... no one is that deluded.

He might not realize that there were so many inconsistencies.

The entire book is quite humorous actually.

Well, almost the entire book anyway.

Yeah, the L2/Level 2 screw-up is indicative of just how little of a **** he gave for consistency.

Humorous because of its mistakes, was what I was implying.

But I'll concede the point.

It's kinda ironic that ending ruins the only value this novel had, unintentional humour. I don't even know how to explain it, error in error?

Actually, it's like that just as you think the absolute bottom has been reached the author pull one more trick and cuts bottom away. Guy is a damn misunderstood genius.

Has anyone read any another Dietz novels and can tell us of good work he's done?

I liked his Hitman novel. I read that years ago though so maybe it wasn't that good.

I've read both Halo: The Flood and Hitman: Enemy Within and I can tell you that those were both good novels on their own, but absloutely terrible when weighed against their own series. I felt Agent 47 was terribly out of character in Hitman: Enemy Within and don't get me started on Halo: The Flood. At least in the Flood, it looked like Deitz had the time to actually read Halo: Fall Of Reach and know what he was writing onto, but totally failing to do so at the same time.

After reading the preview of Mass Effect: Deception, I can tell you a certainly won't be spending my money on such a terrible book.

I read both of his novels for the Resistance franchise and they were fairly decent and weren't badly researched mockeries of the games' lore like Deception is. It's clear BW didn't properly "groom" Dietz to write this.

Safe to say a lot of us want Drew back writing novels?

At least I do.

If I have understood it right how ME: Decline sets the things up for the future, it's pretty difficult to see Drew continuing.

Yeah, he's working on SWTOR. I wish he was still working on the ME project.

To be fair, Drew's books weren't the most amazing and best written pieces of work however much Dietz's effort may make it seem to be.

I don't think anybody is claiming that they were really great pieces of literature but they were okay, giving background information of characters and the world. I don't think anything else was even expected.

What comes to Dietz work, I hope people won't waste their money.

Unless they like Deception, in which case more power to them.

But even I can admit, Drew's books aren't the best books ever written. They won't be remembered 100 years from now.

But they were good. Good enough that I enjoyed them all.

I saw people calling Drew's books critically acclaimed in the last thread. When you start to think that I believe it is time to put Deception down.
