Hey guys I don't know if this has already been mentioned but the IGN page has been updated. It now includes a wiki section about the book. In that wiki is a link to the google doc and then a separate section where major canonical errors can be listed. That section is currently empty and only people with an IGN username(free) can update it. Somebody with an account and a good understanding of the books issues might want to take a few minutes to fill some of it out.

Someone should ask Mr. Dietz how he likes the general reception to his book.

The answer to that question is obvious, there's no need to ask it.

Plus, that'd be low.

A few days ago he claimed to be proud of the work, but if you say so.

this is getting really nitpicking, somebody should try to read some of Drew's book and check what did Kai Leng eat, look, ****** or touch and see if is correct within the established lore.

Has this Tweet by Casey Hudson been brought up? Deception related don't worry. https://twitter.com/...362747836604417 It seems to me that the red flags on this novel should have gone up before it was released to the public.

Its come up quite a few times through this near 400 page thread. What pisses me off about this tweet is, not only has Casey completed a final review of Deception and approved it. But it was tweeted on the 11th of August 5 an a half months ago. 5 months and no one at Bioware noticed any of these lore errors before release.

Please tell me that this is not the case...please because  if it is ... I'm  now going to have serious, serious question to ask about Bioware going forward.  Alot of things i can excuse but letting something like  Deception get buy and worst approving it... not good and good at all.

Yeah its hard to believe.

On top of Casey completing final review of this book sometime before August 11th, no reason to rush the review at that point, with over 5 months to spare till release.

We have Dietz who confirmed via a letter that someone at Bioware reviewed his draft "line by line" .

This novel really slipped through the cracks.

And then right after that is this one:

“Whoa!” a voice said, as Gillian increased her pace. “What’s your hurry human?” a turian inquired, pacing along next to her. “You need some happy? They call me the sandman. And my stuff is red. Real red. Ten credits for some sweet dreams.”

Red sand is apparently very affordable.

I wonder how much of this was a rush-job; you hear about very buggy games having been rushed out by publishers all the time. Perhaps this mentality has also affected books based on games?

I think EA picked wrong guy to continue Drews work with the novels at the first place. How this passed to the market, that would be interesting story to hear but I doubt we ever will get to know the details.

*Enter Sandman* by Metallica HAS to be that guy's theme song.

Hell, he probably LOOKS like The Sandman from ECW.

God, this is disturbing.

You know, that should surprise me, but I think I've developed a sort of carapace against Dietzism.

I can thing of a half-dozen authors that could have done a better job, including several who do regular tie-in work.

I wouldn't be surprised if he were. It's just that he's out of his league. I wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't even understand how badly.

Given this thread, I could name a few posters here who I'd preferably hire than Dietz from their posting alone. Yeah...

Interestingly enough, Kai Leng does not eat or unrinate during his appearance in Mass Effect Retribution.

Could be something simple. I don't think it's public information how much these writing contracts are worth, but could be just that Dietz has "name" and his rates may be really cheap.

Imagine if he was a squadmate

We already know about all the horrendous errors, and it should be enough, is becoming irritating to see how people tear the book apart over every little detail, is not serious to do that. We already have proof, now we need BioWare to talk.

I'm sure there's fan fiction that solves that injustice.

Because clearly that's what we wanted in this next installment of the series!

Well, look where their "cheapness" got them.

(I'm not saying that's what happened, but this whole deal really should have been though over better. I think we can all agree.)
