Has this Tweet by Casey Hudson been brought up? Deception related don't worry. https://twitter.com/...362747836604417 It seems to me that the red flags on this novel should have gone up before it was released to the public.

Its come up quite a few times through this near 400 page thread. What pisses me off about this tweet is, not only has Casey completed a final review of Deception and approved it. But it was tweeted on the 11th of August 5 an a half months ago. 5 months and no one at Bioware noticed any of these lore errors before release.

Please tell me that this is not the case...please because  if it is ... I'm  now going to have serious, serious question to ask about Bioware going forward.  Alot of things i can excuse but letting something like  Deception get buy and worst approving it... not good and good at all.

Yeah its hard to believe.

On top of Casey completing final review of this book sometime before August 11th, no reason to rush the review at that point, with over 5 months to spare till release.

We have Dietz who confirmed via a letter that someone at Bioware reviewed his draft "line by line" .

This novel really slipped through the cracks.

Or it blatantly ignored and if Dietz  statement is true... the Bioware has a lot of question to answer...  alot.

First and foremost.  "Why would like something that complete disregards your established lore and canon be published with your  trademark and logo?"

I'd love to see his weapons choice. Sniper rifle and... sharpened toothbrush!

SO that's why they added the new melee takedowns! It all makes sense now! :bandit:

What was the Happy Bowl quote? It may not be the worst one in there, but it sure has potential for all sorts of memes and images.

Ask and ye shall receive:

Gillian was a bit disoriented after the underground trip, and hungry as well, so she slipped into a noodle shop that was located in the corner of what appeared to be a block of apartments. That gave her an opportunity to eat a happy bowl and reorient herself using the pawnshop owner’s map. After finishing her meal she was ready to complete the arduous journey.

I just read the bit about the Batarian slave-raid on Palaven. WTFFFFFF

I can't believe such crazy lore errors were authorized. Bioware needs to be way more discerning with what gets published under their name, brand and franchises.

Why do you care if other people want to keep discussing it? It's not hurting anyone. I'm still enjoying the reaction of new people when we point out some silly thing to them. And the longer this thread goes on, the more obvious it is to Bioware that there is an issues with the book.

Too late, I'm dropping the subject, happy nitpicking.

There's no harm for people to keep discussing it, but I'm pretty sure BW knows by now there are issues with the book.

It just seems like you guys are out for blood at this point. Not so much in the discussing of it within this thread, but chasing him down on Twitter and Facebook.

This thread has made a vaild point, but please, do not start harrassing the man. It is beginning to feel like a lynch mob.

No, this is on the Citadel - in Hu-Town, to be exact.

Alright, it's still weird because well... I don't...

I am seriously trying to understand why he made Gillian 18 (I know the other characters ages are whacked out too) and it seems like he made her a legal adult just so he could throw in some casual prostitution.

I say again, because the people involved in this kind of thing totally have standard.

And "Hu-Town"?

It's confusing really. There has been idea, someone posted that it might have been because killing kids would have been too controversial. I think that is a good guess. Same explanation might work with Gillian's magically cured autism. Killing disabled person and all.

Something else I could think of is that Dietz needed move to room with characters because he might be unable to portay autistic person or fit a character like that in his work. I'm really guessing here, I haven't read anything from Dietz before Deception and it's very difficult to analyse his way to work based on just one novel.

Some  might  have standards but I doubt he was going that I think he was going for the lowest of the low crimnal. Which making her 18 would be pointless because the 3 years difference would not matter.   I either way is  all just mishandeled rather poorly.

as far as Hu-Town.. I have absolutely no idea.

Put him in a wife-beater with a confederate trucker cap and you've got all of the elements of his personality down.

Almost done with the book, and in my opinion all of you are drama queens. The writing is not up to snuff, and there are gramatical errors and such.

Like I said I would. I'm enjoying the book for what it is.

The novel was probably approved by someone high up in the ME Team.

Thing is I very much doubt this person was a writer, seeing as the writers have had a lot on their plates. Still it's not an excuse for Bioware.

The story itself is pretty solid, but the lore issues are massive.
