Anderson used silencers on his guns in "Revelation".

Bioware please repond us! End this, and remove deception from canon.

Ive been pretty invested in the ME universe since it started, games, dlc, comics and novels. Ive always had high expectations from the Mass Effect team and have been able to live with any of the continuity errors that have shown up until now. But this novel takes the cake.

If Deception isn't removed or partially removed from canon, my faith in any future Mass Effect product will be seriously tarnished, which is very disappointing as I have thoroughly enjoyed the ME universe up till now.

What is it that bothers you so much? Grow up.

Take the mistakes as mistakes in canon and be done with it. Does it really decrease the value of the Mass Effect universe?

Yes it does

If you don't care so much why are you here complaining about us caring?

Because almost EVERYONE seems to hate the other books, and were just looking for a reasons to hate this one. And the majority of that list of so-called "problems" are nitpicks.

It's true, the morgue scene is pretty cool. Kai Leng actually acted like himself, cold blooded, ruthless, deadly.

If the rest of the book had been written with that level of flourish, I'd have really enjoyed it.

Now that I think of it the sole purpose of the book was for TIM to get Grayson's body so he could make more Adjutants.

That's it. Everything else is just there for no real reason.

Yeah, except he didn't get it, remember?

Costin was talking about Paul Grayson's corpse. But as I stated earlier, the book undermines this notion.  TIM himself says why he wanted the body, and it had nothing to do with its scientific value.  Also, TIM brags that the experiments taught them "[e]nough to make an army of Graysons".  Since he'd gotten a copy of all the experimental data by the end of Retribution, the corpse was unecessary.  Then there's the fact that he was fine with Anderson having it because it meant someone else finally doing something about the Reapers.

Actually they don't seem to hate the other books, I'm not sure where you're getting that.  These problems are clear violations of canon.

Once again, why do you care?

holy cow this thread is going the distance! BioWare has no choice but to disown Dietz and remove Deception from the canon!!

What would that solve? Make you sleep?

Like really. Of all the books harldy add anything important to the main story line.

It would insure that a franchise that countless fans have invested 5 years of their time and money into would not be a waste. Further more, the books have added key elements to both Mass Effect 1 and 2, depicting Anderson's mission with Saren and why the Quarians hate Cerberus. On top of that, the comics have also added key story elements to the main games. Redemption was all about how Shepards body was given over to Cerberus thanks to the efforts of Liara. Stop calling us a bunch of drama queens and acting like this doesn't have any effect on the games, because Bioware has used every tie in product to date in the games in both major and minor ways.

**SPOILERS!**

How completely worthless is this novel when the entire plot contained within is MEANINGLESS? The only major outcome that occurs in Deception is that the three characters previously created in the novel Ascension - Gillian, Hendel, and Nick - are all randomly killed off at the very end for no other purpose other than to erase their existence from the Mass Effect universe. Other than that, nothing matters in this novel to the plot of the Mass Effect series, NOTHING - Anderson and Kahlee make no progress into investigating either Cerberus or the Reapers, the Council still actively dismisses the existence of the Reapers, there is no mention of the events of Arrival or the escalating tensions between the Alliance and the batarians over it, there is no active effort by Cerberus into any of their secret projects... none of the characters grow or evolve, none of the conflicts previously established in other Mass Effect media are resolved, nothing is any different for the Mass Effect universe or its characters from the beginning of this novel to its end, not a single darn thing..

To be fair, all of the books, with exception of the first one. Have had minimal effects on the main story.

Well the first one set up the Anderson/Saren thing and set up the discovery of Sovereign, the second one set up the quarians' problems with Cerberus, and the third book revealed more about Cerberus and started to set up for ME3.

All of which was not important.

And since ME3 isn't out yet, you can't really make any connections to the book yet. So again. Drama queens.

Since you really want to get into this, keep in mind I have read the ME3 leaks and without getting into spoilers, I can honestly and truthfully say that NOTHING in this wretched excuse for a novel has ANY impact whatsoever in ME3. <_<

Luigi, what's your goal here? You don't give a crap. We do. End of. You're not gonna convince anyone here to not care.

Because it IS NOT a BIG deal. And if people want to complain about the book, then I have a right to complain about the complainers.

It IS a big deal because Bioware are asking for money for a product they didn't put any effort into.

And Casey Hudson lied about reading this piece of crap. He's now completely untrustworthy.

And not that many people "hate" the other books. I don't think they're great, but they're entertaining and they fit the universe well.

There was a soft pop as the silencer did its job, the rifle butt kicked his shoulder, and the projectile spiraled down toward its target.

How would a silencer work with a mass accelerator weapon?

Before we  get to that... its  a Suppressor and Deitz is supposed to be  have experience writing Miltary Sci-Fi novels.

Secondly how  does one suppress  a mass accelerator weapon that does not use gun podwer ?

Well it's simple physics at that point, you see the only sound the weapon would make is the tremendous sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier as it left the barrel and perhaps some sort of discharge of a capacitor that we don't know about... so all you have to do is.... huh...

I've not heard anyone in this thread say they hated the other books. I loved them. I was looking forward to this one. I read all three to get ready. That's where the problem is. No one was "looking for a reason to hate this one". That's ridiculous.

The book is terrible. That vast majority of us agree on that, But where you got the idea that we don't like the previous books, I don't understand.

I suppose you could go subsonic, but ME rounds being absolutely tiny, that would mean no stopping power. A silenced .223 or .308 would do a better job...........

Chud's grasp of the Mass Effect universe has always been a little tenuous.  I'm sure he enjoys it, but his grasp of it directly relates to how much lead time they give him with questions to ask people who know.

Actually, the second book explained why the Quarians hated Cerberus so much, which was intergral to the first mission and Tali's story elements in ME2.

Not really. Cerberus is pro-human. They are not trusted by other species (even humans) because of there reputation. Not really surprising.

Cerberus ATTACKED THE MIGRANT FLEET! They have a very personal reason to hate cerberus outside of them being a bunch of terrorists. Get your facts right Luigi:ph34r:

Sub-sonic bullets, but I don't think that would really work in long range weapons with tiny projectiles.

Yeah, the entire basis of their damage output is because of how high their velocity is.
