Guys and gals, let us redirect our hate towards the novel, please.

Side Note: How far has KiddDaBeauty gotten into the novel now?

Not hate. I like to call it civil criticism. :P

I think Kidd gave up. Every time I talk to her she still hasn't been able to continue. Last time I talked to her she still hadn't passed the excerpt part. :D

Yeah, the entire basis of their damage output is because of how high their velocity is.

Maybe this is why he had to buy ammo: He's using primative weapons tech for the sake of stealth!
....Actually, that's not a bad atrategy. Dumping a big freaking slug into someone will do some damage, barriers or not.

Lulz.

I don't blame Dietz for the errors, I blame the person who made the decision to allow him to write an ME book. If you have read any of his Halo books, you should not expect anything good from this author.

Bioware please repond us! End this, and remove deception from canon.

Ive been pretty invested in the ME universe since it started, games, dlc, comics and novels. Ive always had high expectations from the Mass Effect team and have been able to live with any of the continuity errors that have shown up until now. But this novel takes the cake.

If Deception isn't removed or partially removed from canon, my faith in any future Mass Effect product will be seriously tarnished, which is very disappointing as I have thoroughly enjoyed the ME universe up till now.

What is it that bothers you so much? Grow up.

Take the mistakes as mistakes in canon and be done with it. Does it really decrease the value of the Mass Effect universe?

Yes it does

If you don't care so much why are you here complaining about us caring?

Because almost EVERYONE seems to hate the other books, and were just looking for a reasons to hate this one. And the majority of that list of so-called "problems" are nitpicks.

Actually they don't seem to hate the other books, I'm not sure where you're getting that.  These problems are clear violations of canon.

Once again, why do you care?

Sorry if your misunderstood luigi, If you go through the 400 pages of this thread you will find very few complaints about the other books. Not sure where you got that information from.

And the errors in Deception are clear violations of canon, which is not only backed up by the opinions of 400 pages of thread right here, but also over at the Mass Effect Wikia, who are also upset about the violations of canon.

If you want to go further nearly all forums online regarding Deception are upset about this.

**SPOILERS!**

How completely worthless is this novel when the entire plot contained within is MEANINGLESS? The only major outcome that occurs in Deception is that the three characters previously created in the novel Ascension - Gillian, Hendel, and Nick - are all randomly killed off at the very end for no other purpose other than to erase their existence from the Mass Effect universe. Other than that, nothing matters in this novel to the plot of the Mass Effect series, NOTHING - Anderson and Kahlee make no progress into investigating either Cerberus or the Reapers, the Council still actively dismisses the existence of the Reapers, there is no mention of the events of Arrival or the escalating tensions between the Alliance and the batarians over it, there is no active effort by Cerberus into any of their secret projects... none of the characters grow or evolve, none of the conflicts previously established in other Mass Effect media are resolved, nothing is any different for the Mass Effect universe or its characters from the beginning of this novel to its end, not a single darn thing..

To be fair, all of the books, with exception of the first one. Have had minimal effects on the main story.

They were used to setup things for fans before the games came out, while also expanding on the universe. In the second book, it introduced the Collectors, TIM, Omega, and the politics going on between the Quarians. In the third book, it introduced Leng, Anderson losing his job but also getting back together with Sanders, and Cerberus experimenting with Reaper Technology on humans.

We also take comfort in knowing these are canon. That we're being setup for something.

This book? Doesn't add to anything from what I can tell. And we sure as hell can't trust anything this writer wrote as ME canon.

Signed.

Guys, just ignore that dude. It is clear he doesn't know what he's talking about, so just leave him alone. Don't waste your energy on him, and don't let him ruin and lock down this thread.

Cool, good advice.

I imagine that there would be a lot more trace evidence by using a bullet, chemical residue from your firing location, on your own person, ease of tracking down a bullet that wasn't manufactured on demand. etc. etc.

OK So yeah... the other books are great. This is not just a few mistake. These are huge errors. It's like someone writing book between Empire and Jedi and still having Alderaan as a setting in the game, or having Chewbacca talking in English. Or perhaps having obi wan still alive
These errors are a travesty. No self respecting mass effect fan will allow this this... Bantha fodder to exist. It's like Dietz took a huge felch over the whole series...

This is just some much bullsh*t and shows you haven't been paying any real attention to this thread.

Nitpicks are nitpicks. Lore and canon are malleable and mistakes can therefore can be easily forgotten. You want to be miserable and complain about Dietz's writing, then have a blast, but it is getting f-ing annoying seeing this "story" pop up all over the internet because stupid fans have nothing better to do with their time then complain about a gay tolken character ogling Asari. Oh. And then he dies. Cuz he is gay. And Dietz. Hates. Gays. But loves cereal.

I hope Mass Effect 3 is a miserable game experience for all of you, so much in fact that you will be forever doomed to this forum complaining about its "mistakes."

Shallow fans are shallow. See you laters.

It's pretty much made not to have to add the few dying characters to ME3.
A few factors removed that the writers didn't want to deal with with Drew gone, I guess.

I wonder what Dietz's reply is to all this negative feedback over the ME:Deception book. I'm certainly pissed it turned out the way it did.

If you are an assassin, yes, absolutely. That was mainly supposed to be a joke, and I imagine if I tried to fight off the anyone from the ME universe with modern weapons I would be cut to pieces...

Um...you might want to take a close look at your last post, you've got didy's name where it should be Luigi's.

Edit: NVM, you fixed it.

Well according to Dietz, I could just go out there with a Barrett M107 and pick off everyone with one shot.
Hrm...it would fit into his invented "canon" then, wouldn't it?

First I've heard of this since I've been away, but I would totally sign up for it!  I don't have a good voice or mic but that low quality would perfectly match the tone of the book!
