Well yes, there is that. I'm faily confident Kai Leng (and whoever else comes) will be better in the actual game. But Gillian was actually the reason I wanted to read this book, and from what I've read and heard from other people, I'm not sure I want to anymore. I'd rather just keep the images I have from the characters from the other books.
I understand that. For me it's always been an easy thing head-canoning the most dubious elements of franchises I enjoy from my brain, though. There are a couple of Star Trek: Voyager episodes, for example, that are just mindbendingly atrocious and so I never rewatch them and... voila! They didn't happen. So you can always consider reading this for the lulz and then taking whatever quick snapshot recaps characters in ME3 might make regarding its events as the only truth that ever was.
