You know what I just realized?

Even though none of the quarians in Deception have a clan-name, they all are given a ship-name.... even the quarians that are involved in criminal organizations and activities and/or show no sign of still being connected to the Migrant Fleet, like "Rasna Vas Kather" (who's the second in command of the Biotic Underground). :?

I have no doubt that they are busy, but Bioware personnel that would be in a position to comment on this situation, such as Mac Walters and Casey Hudson, have been Twittering today about articles and videos, with no mention of Deception.  They don't have to make a formal announcment at this time, but just a simple "We hear you and we plan to respond when the game is done" would go a long way.

I imagine it is going to be a while before they can actually respond. Realistically, they need to clear whatever they are going to do with the higher ups, figure out what they're going to do with Dietz, sort out what they're going to do about this book.

I'm sure we'll get an answer. I just don't think it's fair for us to snap our fingers and expect them to have it. I'm sure if they did, they would be telling us.

Until they figure out what their response will be, though, I'm sure they are (very wisely, I might add) going to make sure everyone keeps quiet about it until they know for sure.

All we can do is continue to be supportive of the devs, speak out, and spread the word.

If I only manage 10 pages a day, it will hopefully take me no more than 30 days. A goal of less than that would be better.

Anyway, the first 11 pages of my rewrite are done. Let me know if there is anything you don't like.

Read the first part of your rewrite earlier. Keep it up, its an improvement. You never know maybe Bioware may buy it off you oneday for a 2nd edition. Id buy it.

If it wasn't Krogan Krunch that Leng was eating, I'm sure that Anderson at least had a box.

Lucky Narms. There are horribly written dialogues in every spoonful!

I prefer Krogan Krunch with a tall glass of ryncol. Breakfast of champions.

Riptide, you speak the truth.

I wholeheartedly agree with the bold.

Thank you.

I really hope it is something the devs read and take to heart.

I hope they do too, man. I hope they read a lot of what's been posted in here and take it to heart.

After reading the google page with all the errors of this book it won't matter to me if Bioware declares it non-canon (I seriously doubt they will do that anyway) for me it already is. This "book" is a friggin joke and an insult to the fans and the Mass Effect universe. If I see the slightest reference to the events of this book in Mass Effect 3 I'm gonna rage. Karpyshyn please rewrite this piece of ****.

I know seven really good fan authors on this site. Any one of them could have written this a hundred times better, and probably would have done it for free.

Christ, let Weekes do it. He's a great writer. Just anyone who is not Dietz.

Just checked out Casey Hudsons latest tweet, some one commented on it.

"@CaseyDHudson Hey Casey, what do you think about fans reactions to Deception?"

I doubt he'll respond to this.

I highly doubt BioWare will formally respond to any of this. I imagine they're just hoping we'll burn ourselves out and people will forget by the time ME3 drops.

Having skimmed through this thread and the corrections page on googledocs, I am currently under the impression that this book is best left avoided and ignored. Would I be correct in that assessment?

A valid possibility.

Because when you think about it, do they even need to declare this non-canon? NOTHING happens in this novel, anyway. Seriously, as far as the games are concerned, even in the leaked script, you could take this book out or leave it in and it's the same damn thing.

Im thinking whoever takes over, it wouldnt hurt to get a 3rd paty to check over the final draft , like the Mass Effect Wikia team. They already said they would have been happy to help Dietz if he had asked.

We could ignore it.

But I think whoever is handling the books needs to know that in the future, this is not going to fly. If we tell them what is wrong with the book and mark our dissatisfaction, hopefully they will know what to avoid next time.

Bioware is usually pretty good about fan feedback.

Yep.

Lot's of things are difficult to explain, like how damn bad the quality of writing is. How everybody in this book is an idiot and nothing makes sense.

The truth is that book is actually even worse than error document can present.

And those authors I mentioned probably would have done the same.

Ugh. This is just depressing. There is no reason this book had to be as bad as it is.
