Ok, I've read the prologue and a couple of pages of the first chapter. All I can say is: "What the hell?" Is that seriously the way that guy writes? I've read fan fiction that flows better than that. There is nothing that sets up a scene to make it even slightly interesting, the author just seems to be walking you along saying "Ok, here's what happened here. Here's what's going on here. Here's a clinical explanation of some history. Here's some people saying stuff."

I am not impressed in the least with this yawnfest so far.

Four hundred pages. Hot damn.

And look at all those articles. Really puts into perspective the noise we can make if we band together against something. Let the power of BSN be known, and feared.

EDIT: saluting the thread leader while he's around. =]

Having skimmed through this thread and the corrections page on googledocs, I am currently under the impression that this book is best left avoided and ignored. Would I be correct in that assessment?

We could ignore it.

But I think whoever is handling the books needs to know that in the future, this is not going to fly. If we tell them what is wrong with the book and mark our dissatisfaction, hopefully they will know what to avoid next time.

Bioware is usually pretty good about fan feedback.

This may not be what you like to hear but Stanley Woo has said in multiple threads that the best and practically only way to get message through is to vote with your wallet.

Im thinking whoever takes over, it wouldnt hurt to get a 3rd paty to check over the final draft , like the Mass Effect Wikia team. They already said they would have been happy to help Dietz if he has asked.

And those authors I mentioned probably would have done the same.

Ugh. This is just depressing. There is no reason this book had to be as bad as it is.

No reason at all. The resources are there, readily available. I would have been one of those writers...but alas, I am a lowly fanfic writer and must not know anything.

Laughs... you've gotta love Hendel's internal thoughts after he finds and tracks Nick to the Biotic Underground's hideout on Omega:

Hendel was careful not to look around, or even glance at the guards, as he walked past. It would be a mistake to show how interested he was. But Hendel could think about the discovery and he did. You may be wearing two guns, the ex- security officer thought to himself, and you may have a girlfriend. But you’re still a pimply faced troublemaker and your ass is mine. Have a nice day, Nick. I’ll be back.

I am amazed something managed to unite BSN like this.

Guess it took us hating something more than eachother for that to happen. Weird.

We've discussed the phenomenon, yeah. In the end, the raw truth is that birds fly, ducks quack and Deception is BAD. The fact is 100% unarguable.

Call it forced cooperation if you will. But it's working=]

Ironically, it would be the perfect defense. No one would want to look under a box made of this crap.

*salutes right on back* Excellent job. :D

All this saluting got me into a military folk song mood...so I am re-writing a song by the Air Force band Dos Gringos, called "The Hound War Song." (If y'all google it, I will warn you the language is very...strong. But don't worry, my version will be clean!) I figured the theme was appropriate, and I have already re-written the chorus to share with you:

Singin’ aye, aye, aye

We’ll fight until we die

And Deception is gone forevermore

Rainin’ ire from above for the fandom that we love

We are the fans of Shepard,

The guardians of lore!

I'd recommend listening to the song so you can get the tune right in your head. B)

This is very true, I know I cancelled my pre-order and I've probably seen at least 10 people in this thread cancel their or say that they are no longer planning on buying it.  One person even got a refund.  So considering this is only a a small microcasm of the fanbase we can hope that those outside of it get the reviews and news and reconsider their purchase.
