I rather like the IGN article. They treated this as a legitimate concern versus a bunch of fans going bats**t over "a few nitpicky errors." They also said they themselves have reached out to BioWare...if that doesn't make them sit up and take us seriously, I don't know what will.

Wow. I read through that list and am glad I have never read any of the comics or books. The lazy factor has multiplied by about a hundred on this series and I'm getting sick of it. DA is circling the drain; ME is now circling the drain and TOR, while I love it, is not going to hold me forever.

Maybe, but I think most of us are underestimating the power of money, this ragestorm isn't going to mean anything if there isn't a dent in their sales.

Those of us who have actually purchased the book have only done so for educational purposes, and we are encouraging others NOT to buy it. Hopefully that effort will offset the money we have given towards the book's sales. Though, I cannot in good faith give a book negative reviews that I haven't read...and that's why I'm reading it. That, and I will be highlighting and marking up my copy this weekend, and posting pictures of some of the worst sections for all to see.

Not all of us hate everything BioWare is releasing lately. Many of us simply hate "Deception". 

Me neither. I understand people get frustrated when the dev team drops features they like, but still those are often matters of taste (and in some cases, play style - in which case I get people get p***ed off, because that can be extremely limiting for the player).

This though... this is something else.

So true. I usually never tear into bioware... simply because they usually never deserve it. Sure, questionable desicions have been made here and there, but those sort of things really come down to taste. This whole debacle however....
Yea sure bioware shouldve noticed this in proofread, but it really comes down to Harbinger himself... William C. Dietz, because canonical errors and lore issues aside... the writing itself is very poor. A 5 year old high off of sharpies could tell a better story.
If Bioware had any shred of respect for its fans, they would make sure this becomes non-canon. if they dont though..... it shouldnt matter. NOT ONE fan should consider this canon.

Every company likes interacting with fans right up until there's a threat to sales numbers. There's nothing wrong with that. They're businesspeople too, and as a novel leading to ME3, they have to market it.

And seeing this thread, they probably understand that any and all "interaction" will only lead to more fanrage

Hear hear!

The thing is, Bioware really make pretty amazing games, all things considered. And usually, when they slip up they apologize (for example, the accidental transphobia in MotA).

That's why I'm so disappointed. They're usually better than this.

I got involved in the discussion, a few sites have posted articles related to the book and our reaction to it, and the writer for the first three books has posted a bit in regards to Deception.

Funny thing is if they dont speak up and rectify this now, theres a good chance it will effect their long term sales with the Mass Effect franchise.
