OH GOD. LMAO Read the Last Line:

I thought the first line was most interesting

"I’ve also been getting a lot of e-mails about the newest Mass Effect
novel, asking me what I think. I understand why people want to know"

The closest thing so far as to a response from BW?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Gillian's "autism" caused by the drugs Cerberus was giving to her? (That's what I gathered from reading the book) I don't think that's really a mistake if it's not mentioned anymore. Near the end of Retribution she was acting more and more like a normal person after not being on said drugs. Same goes for Hendel Mitra, I don't remember having any reason to think he was gay or bisexual, why is it a big deal if he's checking out some Asari?

Again, correct me if I'm wrong.

The drugs were making her condition worse, they didn't create it.  I know of at least one instance of Kahlee mentioning Hendel's sexuality to Jiro, suggesting that he would be more interested in him than her.  Pretty sure there was at least one more passive mention of it in Ascension.

Forget skydiving, bungee jumping, white water rafting, etc. since the new way of getting a "badass" adrenaline rush for junkies is to go and eat other people's cereal.

It goes FAR beyond those two things. Check the Google document linked in the first post. The book takes place before ME2, but after the books that came after ME2. The internal timeline established by Deitz in the novel. So, not only are character things changed as listed above, the revenge plot of the book takes place before the cause of the revenge.

Eh... whut?

Is there any proof/mention  that the drugs aren't the cause?

Oh, yeah, I know there's over 50. There's at least 2 in the first 5 pages. I was just curious about these more than anything.

The worst thing about following mentions of the book is when you see someone say something like "Just got ME: Deception. Looking forward to it..."

Yeah, like Holly Conrad saying she was rushing to the book store.

Oh God.

She was stopped in time.

Aside from her being called autistic from the moment she energed from pen to paper?  I don't know if there's any line of dialogue from anyone saying "these drugs totally didn't give her autism", but I do know the book just said they had made her condition worse, and that her progression aboard the Migrant Fleet was largely being attributed to the quarian suit she had to wear.  I also seem to remember them explaining she was born that way when they were explaining why there wasn't a cure for it that far into the future.

So is there anything, anything at all in this jumble of crap that is actual information that would be good to have going into ME3? Or is it just one big waste of time?

So, what, is the woman's first and last name Shella? Is her name really Shella Shella?? Was this just a grammical mistake in the writing??? Who edited this damn thing?!? :pinched:

Shella (Shella Shella?) was part of Kai Leng's squad (yes, THAT SQUAD THAT HE FORGOT ABOUT) in Retribution, she was a tech expert....

... who somehow left Cerberus' employ and went to work for the Grim Skulls. I don't even know.

But yes, apparently her first and last name is Shella.

Ascension confirms Gillian was diagnosed with autism prior to any drugs being given by Cerberus.

But that's okay, the power of friendship made it all better!

You know, I thought it was kinda touching, at the end of Ascension. Gillian was free from Cerberus, she was getting a little better, you know, with the suits and stuff, being around the quarians. I thought it was sweet how accepting they were of her, how, even if she was never normal, she at least seemed to have found something of a home, and people that cared about her.

But nope. None of that meant ****.

**** you, Dietz.

Ascension, page 41

At age three she had been diagnosed with a mild form of high-functioning autism...

So, unless Cerberus has been pumping her up with meds before they knew she needed them (if I remember correctly Jiro was told to give them to her because she hadn't displayed any biotic ability), I think it is safe to say the meds did not cause her autism.

Edit.'d :P

I'll probably ignore this book ever existed. I think it'll just ruin my ME3 experience once I start reading it.

Every company likes interacting with fans right up until there's a threat to sales numbers. There's nothing wrong with that. They're businesspeople too, and as a novel leading to ME3, they have to market it.

And seeing this thread, they probably understand that any and all "interaction" will only lead to more fanrage :P

Funny thing is if they dont speak up and rectify this now, theres a good chance it will effect their long term sales with the Mass Effect franchise.

You are assuming and giving too much credit to the regular mass effect player. Really since they haven't say anything yet means that their sales are going just fine.

You're probably right, sadly. But at least this has gotten publicity and they have IGN hounding them for a comment, so maybe we get at least some kind of response.

Hopefully.
