Had dietz replied to someones email? I thought i read in the comment section of mass effect wiki letter or on one of the gaming sites that he did. Idk ill check again.

He did, probably a couple of hundred pages back somewhere though.

Dietz letter

I wrote the only letter that I know of that has been responded too and released publically.  Mind you that was written and responded to on Jan 26 so I the full extend of the problem was not yet known.  Had it been I would've pressed harder while remaining as polite.

They have to be worried about credibility, after all, the mainstream media won't run their ads and they're polling very low amongst the other races <_<

i think we can consider this as a backhanded spoiler actually..if u look behind the subtext, it means dietz knew what cerberus really was and didnt put any thought into the ambiguity bioware usually has with cerberus.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but aren't novels such as this supposed to go through some kind of editorial or vetting process?

What to know how much sense this makes ... this how much sense this makes.

Megatron: Starscream -  what are the opinion polls about the  Decepticon cause amongst the humans

Starscream: Forgive me  Lord Megatron  - our poll numbers are down.

Megetron: You fail me yet again Starscream. Gather the Constructicons  attack nearest  human  Oil Refienry. We show them our cause is  worthy.  I want our polls up by 25% in the next  Earth Cycle.

OOOOOOOOOH. That was good. That was amazing, I can't believe I didn't think of that.

Also, the sentences in Deception have about as many words as Cena has moves.

Sadly ... he still not getting the point.

and the straight lie about taking the utmost care  -  If that was the case there would not be so many blatant errors. To make another  sports anology.   We have the game film , you played poorly - stop trying to tell  some opposite  Its on tape or in this case... print.

Maybe I will be alone on this thread who actually likes Deception. It's enjoyable piece of literature if you don't take those lore inconsistencies too seriously. Honestly, I don't remember each Codex entry from the games, so errors don't strike on me to much.
I'm sure several lore problems will be explained in ME3. Timeline inconsistency is probably a result of several game story rewritings (what i mean, maybe ME3 had to take place a few years later, then the writers changed this and forgot to inform Dietz).
And finally I'm guessing fans don't like the book because it's not Karpyshyn's.

C'mon now, what did Cena do to deserve being associated with this novel

I would compare Deception to Ric Flair right now, decrepit, bleeding from every point, and entertaining for all the wrong reasons. You feel sad when you see it.

We don't like the book for a long list of valid reasons that do not include fanboism to Karpyshyn. Hell, I doubt anyone here would even say he was a good author, either, but at least his stuff had it's moments of entertainment and made some semblence of sense.

This is just garbage.

There are some pretty serious errors,  Like the half masked volus or Gillian's vanishing autism.

I personally dont care who wrote the novel, if the lore and continuity was up to scratch and it had a half decent story I would have been happy.

Sadly for me it doesn't tick any of those boxes.

i can only repeat what i have said before: the writer did a bad job at writing. the editors did a bad job at editing.

and I'll post this again because obviously these three had no advice or guidance for Mr. Dietz to work with, which still is excuse for him not to do some research of his own.

Trust me, we don't like it because it's bad.

The writing is amateurish and poor and some of the errors are glaring. This book is bad.

Karpyshyn's novels were no masterpieces, but they had a fairly entertaining story and didn't screw up the lore.

Deception is poorly written, has no actual point to it other than eliminating three characters, and consistently gets lore points wrong. It's not good.

The only reason i liked the Karpyshyn books was that they expanded on the lore of the universe. The plot was always a bit weak, and the characters were quite simple, but reading the books made playing the game more fun.

A good example is how retribution gives a first hand account of indoctrination, and how reapers control their minions. Gives you a glimpse of how Saren must have felt in ME1.

Dietz's book just messes up the lore.

Or as I like to sum  as ...

12+3 =18

and Autism is something one simply just "gets over"....
