I'd almost consider reading this book as a form of torture.

That is the most inhumane thing I have ever heard anyone think up in my life.

Let's do it!

make sure its a copy from someone who already bought it. we wouldnt want to encourage this sort of thing afterall.

Can't be as bad as forcing someone to watch The Marine.

Nah, books are longer. Okay, reading Deception is worse.

It's not that bad. If you mind the cereal eating, urinating on vases, the toothbrush, Leng is portraid quite well. Same goes for TIM. For the majority of Cerberus as well.

Though that's only what I've heard.

the human body is more resilient than we give it credit for. the torture device known as the wheel for example. You can break someone's arms and legs on one and it would take days before the person would succumb to their..wounds.

Lets not pull a Martha MacCullum Fox News segment.

We actually have to DO our research before making comments.

Hence all of us(or most of us) actually reading the novel, whether in its entirety or in parts.

Good. Find anything off, odd, or whatever have you and post it for us to pick apart and dissect.

For science.

You disagree? Since I'd like to hear other opinions on the book than people constantly repeating the cereal joke and lore errors. Not from you specifically, you have already stated yours.

And I doubt most people that have posted here have read the book.

Extremely little error but "an Level 2" should be "a Level 2".

In reality that whole segment is messed up because there are no such thing as a level system the way he portrays it.

I wish the Turian Councillor were here:

Ah Yes, "Mass Effect Deception". We have dismissed that book.

So did they discredit it yet? I'm at Chapter 10, but I can't really summon the will to continue further.
I kind of want to read the ending, just so I know what I can expect in ME3 if they bring it up.. but preferably I just have them make it non-canon all together...

It's just..
It's bland, it's for the most part poorly written and worst of all is filled with lore errors every page or so. If not for the Mass Effect universe this would have absolutely zero worth.

Oh now that's just ironic.

But Gaider's the one writing that, and he works on Dragon Age, so its only mildly applicable.

It's already bad enough that Dietz introduced an almost game-like level system for the universe outside the games. Not to mention the ability to sense other biotics.

What's next? People running around with Kuwashii visors and scanning biotic levels?

Nick-"Gillian, what does the visor say about his power level?"

Gillian-"ITS OVER LEVEL TWO!!!!!!!!!!"

Nick-"OVER LEVEL TWO!? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!"

I've read the novel, and believe it or not, Cerberus is portraid well in the book (for once). They act successfully, and actually think like a "secret" organization, not running around with guns blazing. And Leng does achieve in every assigment he gets from TIM, and TIM isn't hadning out stupid ones. Of course you could argue that the plot dictates, but it's still there. And Dietz managed to portray Leng similair to in Retribution.

The book still sucks IMO, but it is there.

Explain the polling Cerberus did to know what other races thought of them.
