Not much, thread is little slow without your prince force.

Apparently. Every time I leave this thread for an extended period of time, it seems to move slower.

Not unfortunately slow(like a crawl), but just slower.

Guess the rapid speed can be attributed at least in large part to me.

I think we are slowly running out of material to discuss/hate on. There is nothing that hasn't been said before and the hype is slowly fading away. I think that's also why Bioware is being quiet about it at the moment. They are waiting for everything to cool down, so they can bury this whole fiasco, without making even a scene.

Oh, I imagine that's the plan.

There's only so many pages, so many chapters, so many lines, and so many words.

Once we discuss everything, it'll get repetitive.

Which is why I want updates.

I want to know just how close we are. Even if our push here on the BSN starts to fail, we've got thousands of others spread across many sites now talking about it.

We've got back up.

That and I'm not giving up just yet. Speaking of which, time for me to speak up.

I'm with you. I don't think we should give up just yet. But I do think we need some fresh ideas in order to continue this operation.

lmao.... my favorite quote from this review of Deception (
http://www.tumblr.co...ed/illusive-man ):

Deception is a very, very poor addition to the Mass Effect franchise. The author skimmed canon and added his own variations to it, ignoring and warping characters and settings to serve a pandering story. But beyond the insult to fans, this book is an insult to anyone who can craft a sentence without sounding like a five year old emulating the quick descriptions of Hemingway. Dietz’s resume boasts a wide experience of writing, which leaves the reader questioning - how does he do it? How does a man with no apparent respect for established canon, and a lacking ability to create an interesting story with sympathetic characters, keep getting to write books in this genre?

That's a question I do want answered, but I know I'll never get the answer to.

Then we create more material, like we have been doing.

Well, as for the things that may put pressure on Bioware, I think we have done everything we could. Major gaming sites reported on this, amazon 1 star review bombs were droped, Dietz was "shut down" on Twitter yesterday, immediately, after he tried to advertise his new book. I don't know about the situation on Facebook, though.
Any more ideas?

Short of sending the list of the Errors straight to the head huncho at a Bioware  in letter Asking "Why was this released to your  consumer base with this many  not lore errors but   grammatical erros, poor command over the english language. Also we as your cosumer base have been  requesting a response  from the parties in charge of the Mass Effect  IP with  little results.'  You may not get a  response but I'm pretty sure that this will get around internaly .

Short of that we could work more closely with Mass Effect Wikia ... see if we can get the Google.doc on the from the page of the Wikia.  Give more exsposure to the fan base.

Edit: They have there letter up but not the Google.Doc... if the google accompanyed that it may give more insight into what we are talking about

Here's what I want you to do-

Flip to a random page. Pick a random line, type out whatever segment its involved in.

To keep this thing moving shall we instead of simply doing major new websites in the OP, use just as many as possible? Flood it with quantity and all.

Trust me, read the excerpt at the OP a few times if you're bored. Wasting money on this is exactly that: a waste.

I have wasted money on more trivial things than this in the past and likely will again. I do have to admit, torture isn't how I get my kicks... but...

I don't know... I'm genuinely curious to see how bad this book apparently is. Worst comes to pass, I do a good ol' fashioned book burning. (It should also be noted that when burning books, it's best to keep the pages open, not closed. Flames need air :))

I'd love to participate in the error finding too. However, unless I read the whole thing, I'm not going to be of much use.

Don't losing hope, we still finfing mistakes even in that public excerpt, maybe you be "lucky" too.

Alright:

During the thirty-minute presentation that followed Oro brought the Illusive Man up to speed on the largely sub-rosa pro-Cerberus communications effort that she and her staff were engaged in. The purpose of the campaign was to counter the drumbeat of negative publicity that consistently found its way into the news. “At the moment we’re working with the phrase, ‘Cerberus will sound the call, be ready,’ ” she explained. “The mainstream media won’t run our ads so we’re using guerrilla marketing techniques to put the message out. That includes wall crawls in places like Hu-Town on the Citadel, pirate sites on the extranet, and a network of flesh-and-blood storytellers. All trained to tell tales about the rise of humanity.”

423 pages of BSN harmony and mutual agreement. I feel like I'm in an alternate universe. I like this universe.

With the odd soapbox climbing member calling everyone 'haters' or some such every 100 or so pages. Members who, not surprisingly, haven't even read the book. It makes them feel good though so it's ok.
Still, those are some good odds vonsidering we're on the net and on BSN to boot. It truly takes something monumental to unite us in such a way. *Wipes tear*

I can understand (although I do not like) some of the more minor errors or things about the mass effect universe that are inconsistent or downright wrong. I understand that the author does not necessarily know a lot about the games, so while they do bother me I grudgingly accept them.

However, getting the age of a character wrong by three years is unacceptable. If you’re going to write a sequel to a series of books that stem from a game then you can at least get your facts from the other books right, even if you have you no interest in the game. This really irritates me, but for the sake of the story I can almost accept it.

But there are two inconsistencies that I cannot stand, and pretty much ruin the entire book for me. Removing all mention of Gillian’s autism and just throwing it away as "young instability" is not only completely contradicting the previous books, but also just plain insulting to people who suffer from it. For me, as somebody who has struggled with a similar disability, particularly when I was younger, it was something that really helped me relate to her character and seeing a relatively realistic portrayal of it was something that I loved about the second book. I actually felt insulted when they chalked it all down to "temper" in Deception, and forgot about it as though it wasn't important.

As angry as I am about that, I think that what's even worse than this is making a previously established homosexual character randomly straight with no explanation. Talk about a slap in the face to homosexual readers.

The lore inconsistencies I can accept, but those last two mistakes are not only unforgiveable, but just plain insulting.

It's entirely because of what he wanted to do with the characters. It's not a mistake. His story has both Nick and Gillian brutally murder people left and right and then get killed. So someone made the decision that they couldn't be 15 if that was going to happen. Why this part of this story was neccesaty at all is really the question.

You think that's bad, it's proceeeded by this utterly ridiculous exclaimation by TIM:

“Well done,” the Illusive Man said approvingly. “Our polling shows that even though members of the other races tend to have a negative impression of Cerberus, most humans feel we’re a positive influence. And I know that your efforts play an important part in creating and reinforcing that impression.”

Know what? Periodically I want you to do it. Whenever you can. Random page, random line, read and type the segment out.

I want to see how much we can get out of completely random segments.

Sure, that's fine. My friend said that if the book's as wretched as I say it is, he might just "let me keep it".
I told him to "go to hell".:P
