For one, give someone at Bioware a couple days to actually read the book so they can respond-crunch time and all...... :/

Two-So who is still looking forward to the movie tie in? lol

This book tells me the movie is gonna blow massively.

Don't most people believe that already? The fact that it's based on ME1 is telling enough.

I'm not seeing the problem with that.

The problem is that a) they can only tell the story of ONE Shepard....which isn't my main problem, and B) it shows that they didn't bother to come up with an original story for the movie. And I'd hate to see what "artistic liberties" they took with the ME1 story.

...Of course, after Deception, I'm not sure I trust anyone to write a story for ME other than Bioware itself...

Its not that its based on ME1 that worries me, but that its live action.

I get Dragonball Evolution vibes.

THAT is the problem. I'd rather they go the Final Fantasy: Spirit Within route.

Agreed. Live action its just begging to fail.

Good morning, My name is Noreen and I'm calling on behalf of Cerberus polling. Do you have a moment to respond to a short survey on your feelings about our secret anti-alien terrorist organization? For your participation, I prepared to offer you variety of coupons redeemable on the nearest human colony world.

Some members of Cerberus get to help Shepard take down the Collectors, others are stuck getting told to **** off over the phone.

Yeah, I wonder how many calls it would take before you got your sample. Especially when you are calling aliens. I also think it's likely you'd have to explain to half of them what Cerberus is.

You think that's bad, it's proceeeded by this utterly ridiculous exclaimation by TIM:

“Well done,” the Illusive Man said approvingly. “Our polling shows that even though members of the other races tend to have a negative impression of Cerberus, most humans feel we’re a positive influence. And I know that your efforts play an important part in creating and reinforcing that impression.”

“Well done,” the Illusive Man said approvingly.

said approvingly

Really Mr. Dietz, is it that hard to say approved? Did your word count simply not reach the minimum required? How does a person even say something approvingly?! That's the same thing as people saying things feelingl-- Oh...

I don't see the issue here. I've seen the term 'said approvingly' used numerous times. It's simply a matter of preference which to use. A person says something approvingly when they're happy that something happened. When they approve, lol.
I honestly don't believe that the term 'feelingly' is that bad either. Sure, it can substituted with a better word but it's not really a big deal when taking into account the novel as a whole.

Approved is not the same as approvingly.

Approved is a verb, while approvingly is an adjective. Using the verb would be wrong here since it would confuse the reader as to what TIM is actually doing in this scene, while using an adjective to describe his feelings behind a statement is perfectly legit.

You see, I was almost going to say "Well, at least it's not as bad as My Immortal." But no. There's a critical difference.

At least with My Immortal I can laugh my ass off at how critically bad it is, and I'm kind of of the belief that it was an incredibly dedicated troll.

What if there aren't any? We might have to be satisfied with a "my bad".

My bad certainly isn't enough, nor is it professional.

Oh, I don't disagree. I'm just wondering about reasonable expectations here. Even in the professional world, people rarely own their mistakes.

I'm surprised that advertising doesn't get every member of Cerberus CAUGHT.

It would probably take hundreds of calls, and a few lies.

Still  I have one better for you.. Follow X-men much...if not I'll  set up... image  the smoothesy, black and red eye  rugged like James Bond esque character you can think of.. .now make him Cajun... You have Gabmit...   now  Imagine if you well... Shortest, meanest ball of angst, rage , and anger, with a  Samurai Code of honor. Now you have   Wolverine.  Now  these two men save maybe Chucky X  himself have bagged of  some  Marvels finest ladies...  Now imagine them in a  romantic relationship....

Yeah...

And its still not as  bad as what Deitz and Bioware has tried  to pass off as a novel Titled Deception

As I do this audio book, Deception doesn't really seem THAT terrible. Tons of sentences start with "And," there's way too much exposition, and there are lots of run-ons and fragments in addition to the unacceptable flaws in the canon. But I'm enjoying the story to a certain degree.

Not sure if serious.

Wish they would make a CGI movie, like the SWTOR intro movies. That would be brilliant, but no anime...god no. Did you see how crap the Dragon Age one looks? lol :')

I wasn't thinking straight when I said they could be used interchangeably. You're certainly correct. :)
My main point was that it was used in appropriate way by Dietz.

Maybe my example wasn't the best, but I still think it's a tacky way of going about it. It doesn't flow well, in my opinion. He should have either omitted that part (because, sincerely, it adds close to nothing to what he says) or come around a better way to express it.

But hey, that's just me! :P

This should've never happened if Bioware was paying more attention.

It would've been better NOT to release a novel than to release this mess.
