I wonder if there is anything about why Quarians sent the ship to exploration mission at the first place in this book, or did they also somehow forgot why they were out there? Was that subplot eliminated too?
Yes.
Thanks.
The captain is mentioned once in passing, but never appears. Lemm literally does not appear at all.

To say something positive, it's good Dietz didn't made up anything with them.

When we speaking about quarians, did you notice, how Dietz title them? Fothas vas Mayar is representative Maynar. Rasna vas Kathar is always mentioned like Kathar. Most funny on this is, that Dietz more then once explaining, that for example vas Kathar mean member of crew of ship Kathar, but he steadily title them by name of their ships.
Except for one demented passage when he identifies the leader of their boarding party as "A male named Ugho". What is he, an animal?

And why batarians calling them gas-suckers? They breathing normal air, just filtrating it. Dietz probably only look on their picture and think that their helmet look like gas mask.

Yet another example of a situation that makes it seem like he was literally looking at still photographs and not actually reading any of the detail behind them.

It's really weird that he has these small details, like Hahne-Kedar, weapons manufacturer right but then makes some totally outlandish errors.

It's simple. Is more easy to write Mass effect pistol in Google then read whole article on ME Wiki.

Yeah, I agree. It really isn't too terribly odd. He definitely google-searched some ME1 weaponry screenshots, that much we've been certain of for a long while now. His equipment descriptions read like someone who's aiming for their own unique flavor of a very specifically ME1-style loadout.
Yes, you can perfectly see on this book, that he only found few details to camouflage his lack of preparation. In first chapter he bury us in quantum of useless informations of asari, krogans, salarian, volus, quarians, turians, biotics and about Citadel to convince us, that he is expert on ME universe. There are (by his own words) hundreds of bars on Citadel, but Leng must visit all three mentioned in game. During biotic fights he used nearly all biotics skills.
But later he claiming, that Hendel never was on Omega (he was there three chapters in Ascencion), using wrong quarians names and lot of other big lore mistakes. This book was obviously written only for money and without even minimum love for work.

That's nothing - not only does Dietz completely mess up the whole meaning and purpose of the word "nar" in regards to calling Gillian "Gillian Nar Idenna" (which shouldn't be, cause she wasn't born on the Idenna), but also also notice that every quarian that he names apparently has no clan-name... <_<JamesFaith wrote...

He also claimed thousands die on the Citadel everyday. I mean, I get it, it's big. But based on the population estimates that pop up throughout the franchise, it's like... New York City big, not United States big. For thousands of people to die on the Citadel everyday without this fact causing tremendous commotion and riots against C-Sec for not doing its job, there'd need to be a whole damn country of people.

Statistics there are fun. There are 312 million people in the US. The daily murder rate is somewhere around 40.
There are likely two or three million people in each ward. If there are thousands dying every day, that sounds like a serious problem.

Because on Omega, for the first time in his life, Nick Donahue was a somebody.
That was evident in the light Level III Hydra Armor
he wore, the Brawler pistols that hung low on both
hips, and the fact that they were backups rather than
his main armament. That was his ability as a biotic...
No kidding.

Deception vs other books and game
Occosta Lemm vs. Lemm’Shal nar Tesleya (Ascencion)
Arrius Sallus vs Aria T'Loak
Mythra Zon vs Hendel Mitra (Ascencion)
He isn't even capable to came with original names!

Also, using "fingerquotes" in your text every time a biotic power is named is annoying. As is calling a group of any kind a "n-some". Threesome, twosome... all over the text. I was half expecting people walking alone being called "onesome".
Calling women "females" continuously. Seriously, as a woman, it makes my skin crawl. I'm not a piece of meat. Talking about being a woman, nice use of gender slurs! It is always so nice to see a woman called "b****h", spices up the dialoque (which is horrible, like really horrible). And the general fetishization of all asari is really creepy. Also, when I'm reading about a funeral, I do not need to know how formfitting a person's bodice is, thanks.
And a word to the editor (if this book has any): If the author continually uses brackets/parenthesis to indicate translations and you are in no mood to argue with him an/or slap him across the head with the manuscript, at least make sure he uses either brackets or parenthesis consistently throughout the novel! It's not that hard!
I'm really sad I actually bought this book, but I'm even sadder I spent my free time reading it. It's just boring. There's no pacing, no coherent plot, and at the end, no point for this book. Nothing was acomplished. None of the characters grew or learned anything. It's just bad.
P.S. Ending every second chapter with a redundant summary "X was over" is not "cool".
Edited because I can't internet apparently.

My god. I just finished reading the book, and it's awful. No, it's beyond awful. The lore is completely butchered, the grammatical errors are ridiculous, and the characters... My lord. Also, kudos (and by kudos I mean my neverending hate) for Dietz for queer AND disability erasure! Hendel, gay? No! Lemme write him "oogling" an asari dancer with Anderson like a proper bloke!
I feel like he didn't even know these details existed.

Charming. So biotics abilities which, according to previous books, might be used twice or so before passing out from exhaustion were his main armament? Or we are doing it in gameplay way - against Immunity spammers ME1 style or protected enemies ME2 style?Zhuinden wrote...

Light Level III Hydra Armor... someone has fixation on word "level". Hydra was spectacular piece of cardboard anyway (give him Predator L X and we're talking), and Hydra III was low-leveled piece of cardboard.
Dual wielding. Nuff said.
On Omega he was somebody? On Omega. Oh well. Poor Nikkie was virtually nobody while being one of the most promising students in Ascension Project. His life was so hard compared to other human biotics - L2s with crippling effects or with Subject Zero.
