The only use I'm gonna give to this book is rip it up page by page and use that paper as the bottom for my cat's sand-box.

Hey, that cat is innocent why to torture her by giving her something like Deception to her favourite sand-box? If she saw something of it during his privates moments, it will change her forever!

I'm not done with the book yet, but how does the events of Deception 'invalidate' the Invasion comic?! I think I read that somewhere.

In Deception Aria swears never to work with cerberus again after discovering that Kai Leng killed her daughter.

In Invasion she enters an alliance with Cerberus right away.

Has it been confirmed that Deception takes place after Invasion?

It has to take place before.

That would be even worse, since the plot of Invasion is Cerberus driving Aria off Omega and taking control over the station.

Listening back to that audio, I realize that Dietz literally says the population of the Citadel is more then 13 million, and then later says that there are thousands of murders every day. God, this man is a fool. I mean, honestly. That has nothing to do with Mass Effect, or the lore, or anything. It's just dumb. Daily murder rate hundreds of times higher then anywhere in the world, and he just presents it as a common fact. How is that believable in any way?

Yeah, the book was pretty awful. Personally, I was hoping that Gillian would confront TIM in person, critically injure him with him still escaping in the end and then having to implant some kind of reaper tech in himself as a last-ditch effort to survive, thereby facilitating possible indoctrination in ME3.

Oh... right. Well, that's weird. I guess that's ANOTHER thing I'll have to correct in my head while I read. Dammit Dietz/Bioware..

It takes place before.  That's why it makes no sense.

If Gillian ever reached TIM it would be such a massive breach of character for TIM and would make Cerberus look silly. Gillians revenge plot is doomed to fail horribly from the start.

My only source of tension while reading the book was that TIM would show up on Omega in person. Everyone else breaks character, so i figured why not him?

It HAS to take place before Invasion, there's no other explaination - how she'd even get Omega back from Cerberus only to then continue to work with them in Deception? :?
(also remember that the end of Invasion said that Aria's story would continue in ME3)

Could have happened: Dietz had him running errands, and then dropping by Omega for a chat with Kai Leng.

I haven't read the Invasion comic yet, so that's why I was asking.

So I found the perfect line from Deception that sums up everything we are saying about the pointlessness of said 'novel', metaphorically at least.

"T'Loak might have been hit as well but wasn't."

Why is this line even there? Why did this happen? Were we bad fans? Did we just love too much?

The novel is full of those.
"Such and such but then it didn't"
"Blah blah blah except not."
Pulitzers all around.

then stop trying.

its just easier to pretend that the book (and all that happens within it) just never happened.

IT NEVER HAPPENED.

Just like Superman 3, Godfather 3, Matrix 2 and 3, and Twilight.

THEY NEVER HAPPENED <_<

Fanfiction would at least get the canon right.
