“Whoa!” a voice said, as Gillian increased her pace. “What’s your hurry human?” a turian inquired, pacing along next to her. “You need some happy? They call me the sandman. And my stuff is red. Real red. Ten credits for some sweet dreams.”

Oh What the ****...
couldn't just pull a episode of the Wire to make it at least sound authentic. and Bioware wants me take this guy as an author seriously.
Tim Tebow will win the Devenr Broncos a Super Bowl at starting QB before that happens.

So any official response yet from the Bioware team on the book? Casey, can you browse through the 440 pages of hatred on Deception?

There most like reading the book first saying... "There is no way it can be that bad." after reading about the first oh 10 pages. Emails are being sent out about .. how the hell did this happen. Its most likely moving the through the food chain now.

Thing is, it wont be forgotten, the implications this has on the Mass Effect lore is massive. And it comes down to the fact that Bioware are considering this novel canon.
The Mass Effect Wiki team are struggling to come to terms with how to integrate this whole mess into the wiki. Its a mess and it wont go away in a hurry without Bioware stepping in.
The Wiki team will just write it off, I gather. And if there are no more ME games then BioWare won't need to consult the Wiki anymore anyway.
I guess it's more of an issue if there are going to be spin-off games or some kind of expanded universe where other authors can step in. They'll find ways to get around it if they have to, though (as the Terminator TV series went around T3 for instance).
No one at the Wiki is just writing it off, nor has there been a serious suggestion to do so. Even if, as another contributor suggested, BioWare doesn't respond and just hopes we all forget about Deception when the demo and ME3 come out, we at the Wiki will still keep trying to garner some sort of response, if for no other reason than to determine if this stuff is canon or not. A lot of these errors, which directly contradict previously established fact, are making things pretty difficult here. For example, do volus die when exposed to oxygen and normal atmospheric pressures, as was previously established, or don't they, as Deception claims?

A while back I someone said that they were going to do a Hitler reacts video to the book. Has that been done yet or is it still in the works?
That would be pretty BA.

It would be good if they just acknoledged how Dietz butchered the series and just said something like
"Yes, we are aware of the book's crappy writing but we're still busy trying to polish ME3 to respond officially"".

That's what I thought. Is there any internal talk between you guys about making a fanon discontinuity style choice to ignore Deception? Or are you firmly in the position where if Bioware makes a public statement that it IS cannon, you will try and integrate it no matter how difficult it might be?

Man, I missed that one on the list of errors. Kai Leng fooled scanners that can test DNA in skin flakes using contacts? That's pretty damn funny.

their not going to do that, why I don't know.. There really is no reason to spare Dietz ego here. He should have thought about it before he offered that POS to the editors to be published. More so right know I think there may be some internal communication going on as how and why this book was released in the state that it was in . Because its kinda of a nasty mare on the Mass Effect brand... Remember not even Halo: The Flood made the front page of IGN... if memory serves me correctly.

Jesus, I don't how they can integrate this book, you can't really be glossed over and bury them in the wiki where they might not see the light of day. Most glaringly Gillian's Autism and age in the book, how in the world do you even spin to make sense beside putting a giaint asterik by it . SpartHawg, I mostly certainly do not envy the postion you guys at the Wiki are in at the moment

Right now, we're leaning towards the latter. I haven't really heard any serious talk of writing it off, and the other admins are pretty uniformly of the opinion that, if BioWare says it counts (and no comment is as good as a public statement in that regard), we'll just have to find a way to make it work. For things that totally contradict each other, we're discussing adding sections to the relevant articles detailing the disconnect.

Mass Effect: Deception re-write progress update!
Finished through chapter one. It takes a lot more effor than I thought it would. But I have fixed a great many of inconsitencies and lore/canon errors already. Please PM suggestions and the like to me, or check my blog, on the wiki.
Also PM grammar and other mistakes. Keep in mind they won't be fixed right away. First the re-write then the edit of the re-write.

That's sort of what I've been telling people I though your approach would be. It's tough, because if you look at that error list, either ours or the one on the wiki, there are a ton of articles that would be impacted. And that general fanbase is likely to want to forget this stuff happened completely.
There reall are some very compelling issues that Bioware needs to address, regardless of whether the general story is said to be considered canon. Issues like Deception completely invalidating the story on Invasion. They need to give some indication of how this is supposed to fit.
