Right now, we're leaning towards the latter. I haven't really heard any serious talk of writing it off, and the other admins are pretty uniformly of the opinion that, if BioWare says it counts (and no comment is as good as a public statement in that regard), we'll just have to find a way to make it work. For things that totally contradict each other, we're discussing adding sections to the relevant articles detailing the disconnect.

Fingers crossed that they do remove/partially remove events from this novel from canon.

This is a serious drop in overall quality of the Mass Effect universe that we've all come to know and love. Bioware not acknowledging this doesn't give the best outlook for the future of Mass Effect.

um.. while I am huge fan of Ratchet and Clank ( i still need the play and finishs the PS 3 verison of  the game.)   Where there actually these things from Ratchet and Clank- a series know and built around Lulz and satire brought over to Mass Effect?

No word yet (that i know of) but i'm pretty sure that at least some of the bioware staff are keeping an eye on this thread. 

It would be good if they just acknoledged how Dietz butchered the series and just said something like
"Yes, we are aware of the book's crappy writing but we're still busy trying to polish ME3 to respond officially"".

BioWare approved the book, they butchered the series, and working in ME3 isn't a excuse. Putting the blame in the guy that did what was paid for is shortsighted.

Great work! some grammar mistakes, but it's so much better than the original i can't even compare them.

Loved the way you had fixed the lore errors.

And great reference to fish on the citadel!

I don't attempt to pass it off as my own work, and I don't try to sell it. It should end up different enough to eliminate any worry, If they want to sue me all they would get is a ten year old car. I'm willing to take the hit, because no one else will.

Fan-edits of the star wars movies never really got removed and I never heard of anyone getting in trouble for them

He is going to have to do some reworking of the plot to fix the most grevious plot-holes, it won't be the same story when he is done.

It's a much more entertaining read than the original, but in Chapter 1 it falls into the same lore error as Dietz's work. When you talk about the council, you bring up that they're multi-races. While some of us chose to have either the original council with Udina/Anderson taking the human councilor role or a human chairman with whatever other council members would arise, some others chose for a human-exclusive council in the end of ME1.

Just saying you might want to change that to accommodate those renegades around BSN. Ascension and Retribution got away with it so Deception should be no different.

It's a grey area, and more than likely any action would be sided to BioWare by any court. it is to that end, if asked to cease what I am doing, I will do so. But until then I will continue working, but may release updates few and far between.

No. With Udina established as canon, I am making a concious choice to keep a multi-race council as canon. That is my decision.
