Actually, I never considered the TIM/Reapers thing.

Heck, he'd WANT to provide evidence of Reaper involvement in Grayson's augmentations, if only to prove to the Council and the Alliance that they're real.

(considering that Deception takes place while Cerberus is still trying to fight the Reapers, not join with them)

Shep gets L5s in ME2? Shizzy. I know that Kaidan was capable of being more powerful in ME1, but I didn't realize Cerberus gave Shep L5s.

In ME1, Kaidan says that he spikes higher then most L3s, "except for you, Commander". So he is saying that Shepard is actually more powerful, despite the fact that most L3s are less powerful then the original L2s.

In ME2, in the character creation screen, you can see that Biotic Shep has been upgraded with new L5 implants.

L5x for Adepts. L5n for Vanguards, which enables charge.

A recent comment on my Amazon review of Deception actually made me scratch my head and wonder something:

What the hell ever happened to SHIELDS for armor? I don't think any of the characters who wear armor in this book (you know, the "light", "medium", and "heavy" armors that Deitz has to keep beating us over the heads on) ever use kinetic shielding on them at all! :pinched:

EDIT: And a personal yay for me, I finally figured out how to have custom avatars on BSN. :wizard:

He mentions armor getting "chewed up" multiple times. It's pretty silly.

Doing the Rage Comic Chapter 02, it's getting more and more difficult to fit all the errors into the text of the comic. I'm starting to feel like Buckley where the whole thing is 98% text, but there are so many things cropping up as horrendously wrong that I'll do a disservice to the fans if I leave out the juicy bits.

There are just so many juicy bits.

- Gillian's age. I'm thinking of just having Gillian pop out of the DeLorean and go "Yep, I'm 18 year old Gillian from the future" to solve these issues

- The quarian ship and the author just having no clue about decontamination protocols to hilarious effect.

- Giving of the quarian ship to Gillian.

- The tantalus drive hilariously being on the batarian ship

- The whole timeline issue about Gillian's father dying in relation to Gillian herself

I really am just trying to wrap my head around how this book was approved by any Bioware authority.

In the bold: YES. This MUST happen!!!

For the Tantalus Drive Core, you should be like, "We stole the Normandy's drive core apparently lol"

For years, the biggest draw for me was the intricate, well cared for setting that brought the Mass Effect Universe to life. I loved discussing Citadel Politics and arguing about technology with fellow fans, and the characters had this rich body of lore that made them more than two dimensional combat companions.

I feel like this novel has left a disgusting hole in that body of work, and it demeans the entire franchise as a result. If Bioware retracts this work as Canon, I will pick up the book and read it - if only to support my favorite dev. If they do not issue any kind of statement, this will be the last video game I pre-order from them. It feels like a betrayal of trust, and one straw too many after the slew of DLC and the rushed release of DA2. It comes down to the simple question "Can you trust a company to release quality product?" I no longer feel that way about Bioware.

There's no point declaring the book as non-canon when it is going to referenced in ME3. I know it will be.

Actually, we're pretty sure its imact on ME3 will be negligible, if any.

I would certainly hope so, but I'm not sure just yet.

Correct. There are no references to Deception in any part of the leaked script, nor are their places it could be mentioned.

Besides, what actually happens in the book?

You can't have cameos from dead characters.

So what's the plot of this book? With the reaper threat rapidly approaching Admiral Anderson sleeps with underaged girls and wants to become a shady businessman? Because that's what I'm getting.

In what way?

If Dietz has dropped any hints, they flew over my head completely. Well, except the [spoilers, highlight to read] Leng augmentation thing, but that was pretty much a given ever since the Cerberus spoilers. Why wouldn't they use reaper tech on their own if they had joined forces with them?

The only thing I could see becoming somewhat important would maybe be the deaths, which give someone a motivation for revenge(!!121lolz)... again.

And if that's the case, then I'm starting to seriously reconsider that pre-order of ME3.

so is the book really that bad has anyone read the whole thing?

12+3= 18   according to Dietz

thats the best answer I can give without  really going to a rather long rant  with details.

12 + 3 (+3) = 18. The (+3) is his troll attempt to justify the mathematics of the ages of Gillian and Nick.

Actually if you have 15 real years and add 10 imaginary years you get 18 years... with a deviation of character.

It explains everything.

Thank the Maker Godess...

I haven't read the spoilers and for a moment I thought somebody had found a connection between this and ME3.

In which case, declaring Deception non-canon would be unlikely.

In which case... :crying:
