How would she not be in ME3? Everything is going to be in ME3. I just hope they never let Ditzy Dietz touch this series again. He had an extra 4 month to get this right....4!.....This is unexceptible but I'll take it as it is if he never write a book for this series again.

Gillian won't be in ME3, the book pretty much solidifies that. Only book characters I can see being in ME3 are Anderson, Kahlee, Kai Leng, and TIM.

'/FACEPALM...You have it already, don't you.....I almost want to ask how you got already(pmme).
Regardless I'm going to read it, even if I'm know I'm going to hate it. Just reading 50 page, I can tell it's bad.

I don't have the book. You REALLY think I want it? Noooooo.

But there's previews out there, we already know what happens. The ending as well, which I won't specify here.

Don't want to spoil it for anyone who actually WANTS to read the damned thing.

You don't even need to have it to know the answers. You can see the end using the search function on the free preview. I was giving people a keyword to find it days ago.

Honestly, its better to read spoilers and know the ending than actually waste money on the book.

The more money spent on it, the more they'll think its okay to release products like that.

I'm just glad they didn't tie some promotional content to the book. Good grief that would've been horrendous.

Spoilers and links to less legal leaks, I think.

Though a tiny part of me says the powers that be were looking for an excuse (I'd be ashamed too)

It was because the Google Books preview could be used to read stuff not meant to be in the preview - I know because I was suspended for posting a link to it.

Nah, those are good reasons. Sad though, as this thread would have more impact for the powers that be if it were larger.

Oh, I'm not making open accusations, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised.

This novel is a black eye to any company associated with it.

I'm not gonna lie, I could probably write a better follow up to Retribution than Deception.

EDIT- Then again, no surprise. I'm actually a fan of the ME franchise, I have more knowledge of what flies and what doesn't.

I support this motion, too. Man, even though there are 100 pages of backlash, we hit the meme gold mine!

We could probably write a better story than Deception by yelling out random lines in this thread.

"After seeing the information on the OSD all Anderson could do was shake his head and mutter, 'Freaking Reapers.'"

A fan knows more about the franchise than an outsider paid to write a novel. The only thing the outsider would have over the fan would be the knowledge of how to write a cohesive story.

Although even that faltered in Deception.

Kai Leng the Cereal Killer will end you with a sharpened toothbrush if he catches you eating his Corn Pops.

Wow. I'd just heard about the apparent straightening of Hendel over in the Fight for the Love thread and wanted confirmation and... WOW. Normally, my intention is to read and judge for myself. But the quoted comments just... OW. I write fanfic, I'm my own worst critic, and I'd NEVER dream of putting out material like this. Once or twice, i could have ignored, but it's like that in everything. Hell, I look at the excerpt, and I'm cringing by the end of the first paragraph.

I'd been planning to swing by the book store in the next couple of days and see if this was out. I'm now refraining from purchasing it because I can not in good conscience support this kind of mishandling. Whether it was on the part of the author or the editor is inconsequential - it's happened, and it should not be allowed to happen again.

I totally agree that you have to read something and judge for yourself. I'm very happy that Del Ray and Random House put out enough material for me to do just that. I've read probably a third of the book through their previews, and I've seen enough. It's terrible.

I doubt Dietz even read enough of Ascension to know that he was gay at all.

I'll say again, I honestly don't think Dietz knew that he was gay.

Yeah, that's my assumption. I don't think Dietz did enough research to find out Hendel was gay.

Which is sad.

I've already seen someone use the expression "so-and-so Dietz'd it" meaning the didn't do research.

Maybe that's one that will stick
