I kinda still want to read it. But I hate lore inconsistency.

So in the ME-Di(e)tz universe...

*Gays can choose to not be gay
*Autism is a childish phase
*Cerberus assassins eat other people's cereal and pee on decorative things
*Biotics level up RPG style
*Biotics-lore is now DBZ-lore
*Racist extremists still love the asari

Have I missed anything out?

He stopped rolling that way, apparently.

Seriously lol? It's one thing to reveal this or that character also likes other gender (even though Khalee kind of ruled it out), but full on switch from exclusively gay to exclusively straight?

You'd better not to see what happened to his personality as well, not just his sexual preferences:crying:

Toothbrushes are lethal weapons.

The really awful part is that I don't think that whole relay-travel-as-sex-metaphor was unintentional.

It's not exactly subtle, so I wouldn't think so.

It's great. The whole thing reminded me of those Peter Griffon romance novels from Family Guy, that always ended with "and then they totally did it, and it was hot. Aww yeah" or the like.

If it were up to Dietz, Kahlee would suddenly become a Super Saiyan 4 biotic and would throw Kamehamehas at the Reapers.

Actually, that sounds awesome.

Where's the quote for that section?

I dug it out of Google a ways back in the thread. Here's a repost:

didymos1120 wrote...

Oh, and here's the rest of the mass relay scene, which provides some much needed context on an earlier discovery:

Slowly at first, and then with increasing speed, the rings began to spin as the ship closed in. Then, once the Pictor was about five hundred kilometers away, the relay fired and the freighter was consumed by a vortex of dark energy. It shimmered and disappeared.

But because Anderson was busy making love to Kahlee he missed the transition from one state to another.

I can only presume he was making love to Kahlee slowly at first, and then with increasing speed, and then his relay fired and....

It makes perfect sense. Shaddup.

He was raped by a woman and the experience converted him.

Must have met a nice quarian girl on the Idenna who awakened his dormant heterosexuality.  Or maybe during their training sessions, Gillian biotically knocked the gay right out of him. She's a LEVEL THREE, so I can totally see it.

 "knocked the gay out of him"

Now, it takes a truly epic female to do that.

* Humans can enjoy trips to Kar'shan, the Batarian homeworld
* The council don't really deny the existence of Reapers anymore, only their involvement in things
* I think Kai Leng sort of implied soldiers are always straight?
* Even a batarian slave ship can have a tantalus drive core
* The batarians apparently thought it was a good idea to kidnap a turian off Palaven and they succeeded

Some of this stuff could've been salvaged with some exposition here and there, but he doesn't really do that :/

Some things just don't feel necessary.

Like the little line about Anderson banging Kahlee during a relay jump.

Yeah, like if you just had to have a scene on Kar'Shan (and he didn't. There's absolutely no point to that bioweapon crap at all), make it like pre-Commodore Perry Japan: there's a designated trade area where you deal with goverment approved people and offworlders do not get to leave it. If they do, bad things happen. That's something I can accept a totalitarian state doing.

Pages 125-126. The complete quote and "build-up" is a bit too long for me to put here, but I can give the abridged version:

Like a projectile fired from a rifle the Pictor flew toward what looked like an evil eye floating in the blackness of space.

(...)

Slowly at first, and then with increasing speed, the rings began to spin as the ship closed in. Then, once the Pictor was about five hundred kilometers away, the relay fired and the freighter was consumed by a vortex of dark energy. It shimmered and disapeared.

But because Anderson was busy making love to Kathlee he missed the transition from one state to another.

... That's either the worst pun in the universe or the worst brainfart in the universe. Either way, I'm not amused.

Edit late but whatever, it's so lolz-worthy it deserves to be quoted twice.

*Yep. When hasn't it been that way? :P
*Yep.
*Well, if you are in a hurry, you can't always make your own breakfast so you appropriate someone else's. Also, if you gotta go, you gotta go.
*Why not? It's X-Men practice.
*Oh cmon they're all the same anyway.  Jack= Dragon Ball Z character. Dur.
*Racists extremists run best with an empty tank. It's not that they love the asari, they are just a means to an end. You just gotta vent, you know?

What I like is that, in the midst of all that WTFery, the description of a relay is inaccurate. He forgets to mention the big "tuning fork" arms completely.

Well, sometimes if the big mistakes are big enough, they cover the smaller mistakes.

Lore inconsistencies are what has always scared me about writing fan fiction. It's nice to know that I can not only stop fretting about that, I can also get paid to publish said inconsistencies.

Like not realizing you're relay jumping while having sex?
