They delayed the book for several months and didn't use the extra time to properly edit it?

I
think they only reason they delayed it was due to the fact the game was
delayed. Does that mean the book has potential spoilers for ME3?

Don't worry, it's about the cereal eating guy, Gillian, TIM, Greyson, Aria, and Anderson with his girlfriend.
No change seems to be done, considering it's more about the novel timeline than the actual games.
(Although taking into account how much of the lore is incorrect, I don't think it's so unexpected to see that it doesn't really connect with them.)

Part of that could be attributed to her status as an adept. A level of biotic ability far above Nick's.

See? He knows some ME words. Doesn't know what they mean, but he's seen 'em! Probably in a screenshot on Google Images, but whatever. Also, how far above? I thought Level Three was the max. Did Dietz lie to us?

The thing Is was expecting all of this. You can't honestly expect everything to be accurate when Kerpershyn is gone and their on a time crunch.

See, I could forgive the lore errors if the prose was decent. I'm not expecting that he be another Lan Samantha Chang, but the writing quality is just atrocious. If we discount the writing as a product of time constrictions, I could forgive the writing if he got some of the most basic bits of lore - things that you can look up in literally seconds because there is an entire wiki on it - correct.

But both?

There was plenty of room in the sun- splashed
glade. The mature trees could not only grow tall and
strong, but offer each other protection during the
coming rainy season, when the winds would whip the
forest into a frenzy of thrashing branches.
Kahlee placed each sapling, and covered
its roots with rich black soil.

Hey, he can actually be quite poetic too. It's not that bad, if you disregard everything else. :P

I still can't really forgive them for this, though.

But because Anderson was busy making love to
Kahlee he missed the transition from one state to another.

There are no vanguards in the book.

What transition? He screwed up how FTL works again, didn't he?

ETA: BTW, I'm ignoring the rest of that sentence. Just...no.

And there shouldn't be any "adepts," either.

Does someone at Bioware hate Dietz or something? With so many godawful errors like this, you have to wonder. Time constraints or no, I can't imagine all this passed muster with whoever the editor(s) were.

Who will this appeal to? I mean, other than people who want to laugh at the Birdemic (brilliant comparison there, didy) level of quality? It p*sses fans off, and it'll most likely confuse potential newcomers.

BTW, have you heard of Julie and Jack, didy? Same director as Birdemic, but with an appearance by Tippi Hedren! There's a certain reviewer out there who recently reviewed it, if you're interested?

If you or anyone else wants to know, PM me. Perhaps there will be some valid comparisons that could be made.

I wish, but this is so ludicrously horrible that even I am not capable of thinking of such a thing.

It's the very first sentence on page 126, and I have absolutely no clue what relevance it has to the surrounding context - the freighter ship landing on Omega. It's just... there.

Are you guys sure the cereal thing was put in for comedic relief?

I haven't read it in context, so maybe I'm grasping at air, but I would think that eating a bowl of cereal would be a very much human thing to do that we are taking for granted. Kai Leng, a xenophobe, is bouncing all over the galaxy, visiting all these alien worlds, so it doesn't seem that out of the ordinary for him to take the opportunity to enjoy his bowl of exquisite local human cuisine.

It's like that pretty ****** poor product placement scene from the first "Iron Man" movie. Stark was stuck in some hole in the middle east, and when he got back he craved an "American" cheese burger.

It is still ****ing hilarious, but that was me trying to explain...whatever.

No. It was supposed to be serious. That's why it's hilarious.

You mean the same exact xenophobe who now flirts with an asari stripper in this novel?

Oh, you also gotta love how Gillian just ditches not only the quarians, but later Hendel, without so much as a second thought, despite the fact that the Idenna was the first place she was ever really happy and Hendel was closer to her than her father ever was.

Oh, and Hendel gets drunk after Gillian bails, beats some people up with his biotics, then goes all emo and locks himself in a pantry, and refuses to come out. No worries though.  His old pal Anderson (who he actually just met, not that Dietz is aware of that fact) is there to take care of it.  Cue standard sitcom scene where the friends drag the drunk back home and laugh.

ETA:  And Hendel actually says this:

"You should see the other guys."

He changed? lol

That is odd. None the less I can deal with it.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that an assassin in possession of cybernetic enhancements, must be in want of a bowl of cereal."

Even Dietz knows this. I'm pretty sure it's in the Assassin's Handbook.

Well, it's not so much "changed".

It's more like "Dietz-ified", which is essentually a slang term for "having his or her previously established character, identity, and/or persona retarded beyond all belief". :P

To be Frankenberry, I thought that Kai Leng was going to be Shepard's equal, you know? Someone with Trix up his sleeve, who was going to keep Shepard in Chex. With this revelation, however, I don't know if I can take him cereal. This does not make me Cheeri-o.

Honestly, This post should be made into ti's own thread, closed, and stickied because. It's THAT. DAMN. GOOD.

Okay so I read the prologue, not the first chapter or anything beyond it. Now I read (in an already closed thread) about spoilers in the end. Does the legal (!) excerpt spoiler something in the end for ME 3 or were they talking about some ****y pirated version.
Now, I pre-ordered the book month ago and I am very very excited to read it, soon. But (how much) does it spoiler ME3? Is there anyone (staff) maybe who can comment on that? Should I maybe read it right before playing ME3 for the best experience, or is it okay to read it as soon as Amazon delivers it, because there won't be that many spoilers for (the end) of ME3?

...Damn I feel bad for Hendel.  He was so awesome in Acension, and now reduced to this.  I mentioned this in the other thread, but as far as I'm concerned, he and Gillian are still cruising the galaxy in the Idenna.
