He's trying to write the book as if it's a video game, but disregards the games rules while doing so. I wouldn't have so much trouble with the 'charge' thing if he had had her pull it off in like a fit of anger and had it be a one time thing - since it's at least possible for other biotics to do it. Oh, and if he actually DESCRIBED it.

That's the thing, she shouldn't be able to execute a biotic charge no matter how you approach it. No human without an L5n has the ability, something that is mentioned explicitly in ME2. The MP characters can, but this, like a slam-using soldier Shepard, is a gameplay feature. The schematics for the L5 series exist (and humans may have the biotic potential), but no one (not even someone as young as Gillian is supposed to be) should have them unless they've been retrofitted...with which comes a high probability of brain damage and other deleterious side effects.

All of this was ignored, of course.

I wouldn't mind if she pulled off something similar to a charge, though - I understand the actual ability itself is beyond her, but it's possible that she could pull off something in a similar vein. But of course Dietz just fished for ability names from screenshots.

I have to say, as someone who has "functional" english, I found most of the excerpts from the book extremely hard to read. Not sure why.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's because it's horribly written.

Cancelled book pre-order.

Cancelled ME3 pre-order.

Never picking up the book, and will definitely wait for copious post-release (i.e., not paid-for) reviews before picking up the game, maybe wait and get it used. Most everyone in this thread thinks that the ****tiness of the book has nothing to do with the quality of the game. I disagree. This book shows that Bioware doesn't care about this brand, it's a means to an end, and they will squeeze the life out of it until it gives them the money they expected from the first two installments. /end rant

So...I came here because of the Google doc, and I couldn't help but notice that one has added the fact that Anderson DOES have a son, despite what this book says. They're kind of estranged, but he still has one.

Anderson never had a kid.  Not sure where you're getting that information from.

Nick wonders at one point if his light armor was a mistake. This because he sees a girl his age wearing medium armor. I'm really close to drowning myself here.

Light Hydra III: damage protection 9, shields 77, biotiс/tech protection 16.

Medium Hydra III: damage protection 21, shields 91, biotiс/tech protection 5.

Predator L X: damage protection 30, shields 450, biotiс/tech protection 50.

Medium armor is better? Suuure.

Edit: couple more items:

Medium Hydra X (pinnacle of Nick's desires?): damage protection 35, shields 189, biotiс/tech protection 21.

Light Colossus X: damage protection 65, shields 375, biotiс/tech protection 38.

If I remember correctly, it had something to do with Anderson's Shadow Broker profile.

I thought that according to the dossiers in LOTSB Anderson had a son that he didn't see much.

I thought he had one during his first marrage. I don't want to paw through the books again, but I could swear it was brought up...also there was that bit in his Shadow Broker dossier...

Here the files of his SB dossier: http://masseffect.wi..._David_Anderson

No mention of a son at all.

EDIT: Maybe you're thinking of Captain Armando Bailey?

He has a son named Jason. It was also reviled that has was married (Cynthia I think) in Revelation but being a career soldier his wife couldn't take it and divorced.

My interpretation of that, given that the books flatly state that David and Cynthia never had kids, was that "Jason" is her son with her new husband Henry.  I could be mistaken and some of the LoTSB writers took liberties, but that's just my 2 cents.

Or the boy mentioned is his ex-wife's child and not his (which is what I always assumed when reading that 2nd dossier file).

Plus *MAJOR SPOILERS* when talking to Shepard at one point in ME3, Anderson states that he never had any children.

You don't have to believe me. I honestly don't remember that quote but I think the Lawyer IMO was being sarcastic. But Yeah Thinking hard he was married and the writers must of added the son thing in later.

Hey I look up to my step-father just as I do my real dad. But I get the impression they were "blood"

Off topic.

Sorry, I've gotta nerd out on this: I'll give you that the writers might have given him a son in the dossier, but there is no way your reading comprehension from the books could let you think Ib Haman was being sarcastic when he said "Just be thankful you two didn't have any children, leiutenant.  It could have been a lot worse, and a lot more expensive.  When children are involved, things rarely go this smoothly.  Strange, Anderson thought, nothing about this had seemed 'smooth'."
