This book is like the DA2 of Mass Effect, if anyone ever says they like it, it always comes with the addendum that features M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z were bad, but "it's worth giving a go".

I am now considering buying Deception because of this. I've been enjoying DA2 so far.

Dear sir,

Step away from your wallet!

Seriously, as someone who enjoys DA2 immensely, this book can't in my opinion be compared with it in any way. This book butcheres ME lore, is poorly writen, and has very little coherent plot. Say what you will about reused dungeons and different story structure and narrative, Deception has nothing on DA2 in terms of s****yness. Nothing.

In terms of IP fail, Deception is in it's own special universe of bad.

48 errors.

Wow...

There's more, we just haven't found them all yet.

Whoever is editing/proof-reading that book needs to be fired.

Nah, too extreme and mean.

They just need more people doing it who are more comprehensive.

Don't. Move.

There's bad thought in your head.

*SWAT*

There, its gone.

*Urge to buy something horrible mysteriously vanishes* So what was I talking about again? Oh yeah Dragon Age II is okay so far.

Glad you enjoyed something I couldn't.

I'm surprised how Bioware were able to make a game that people actually like when they rushed it out in just over a year.

Nah, DA2 had some redeeming qualities and is a worth a go at the very least. Same can't be said for Deception.

Yep, DA2's problem was that it wasn't what the fans wanted, not that its neccasarilly bad. I've actually got a few friends who love it, the key thing is that they didn't play Origins first.

This book though.....I suppose it made Kai leng a few new fans, at the expense of all of his dignity and intelligence. If Kai was a real person, he'd be hitting the taverns hard right now.

And then the people in the taverns would find out, and ... :P

..and then he'd kill them all with a toothbrush before pissing in every one of the establishments vases and moving on to get more wasted I imagine.

I love and tolerate people's opinions, so if someone's opinion is that the book is good enough to be purchased, I'll accept it.

As being wrong.

My stepdad was in the Army/Army Reserve for 20 years and we joked about snipers pissing in vases because they couldn't move.

Amazing how he got a book for a gun-toting first person shooter about space marines and a zombie-plague right and yet a story about a vast universe full of different aliens with different cultures, characters, backstories and histories waaay wrong.

And before anyone jumps down my throat, I like Halo. Halo: Reach is my favourite of the series.

I bet someone burned a copy of Halo: The Flood at some point though.

Wrongfully so if someone did. Halo: The Flood doesn't throw the established lore out the window.

Oh Dear God, you don't know about the quote yet where Leng was looking down a sniper scope and couldn't leave his post so he attempted to ****** in a vase.

Oh wait.

It DID get mixed reactions though. Lots of Halo fans hated it. I guess that book's reaction is split, while with this its universally despised.

Well, they had most of the lore & some of mechanics down even before they started, so that'd cut production time down somewhat.

Also, development times aren't always indicative of quality. If that'd be the case, DNF would've been a gaming masterpiece... And we know how that turned out.

When Kai is staking out Aria he gets to a point where he really needs to take a leak. The author then goes on to describe this in great detail yet extremely childish language. It's not nearly as funny without the quote however.

"just as Leng was about to pee in the vase he had selected for that purpose,"

Dear God. You'd think "urinate" or "relieve himself" would've been more mature.

I hated the demo for DNF so much I wouldn't dare give the full game a try. That would require wasting money.

Quote here for your reading pleasure! He's waiting for Gillian outside Afterlife in some poor woman's appartment.

Finally, just as Leng was about to pee in the vase he had selected for that purpose, something happened.

It was a special vase he'd selected for that very special purpose.

Edit Blast! Ninja'd again! Oh well, a quote so nice we shall post it twice...

DA2 took 16 months. ME3 has taken 26 months. ME2 took ... three years?

Bioware had most of the lore and some of the mechanics down for ME2 and ME3 and yet they didn't just rush them out ASAP.
