1. They have no idea that there is a base there.
2. Any investigating ships that arrive will get ripped apart from the black holes.
3. The alliance/council would have nav coords.
4. They could rig the base to explode and take back the tech piece by piece before the terminus alliance was none the wiser.

It doesn't matter if the Terminus alliance get suspicious.

That still doesn't deal with Terminus being hostile towards the invading Council ships. Once they figure out something lies beyond the previously untravelable Omega Relay, it's going to gain interest.

So what I want to ask is this, did you go out of your way to purposely re-do the collector base sequence and hinder cerberus in as many ways as possible? Or did you do just the opposite and became one with TIM and will find a way to get his support in ME3 (though I think I remember seeing somewhere that Cerberus can never be persuaded to be nice, maybe at the endgame but who knows. I have not seen the script and I do not want to!)
I don't let meta-knowledge affect my play-troughs.
So no, I don't go back and change my decisions. What is done is done. And I saved the base.

My Shepard blew it up because:
A)If Harbinger has the intelligence of a small rodent he will have organized a purge of the computer systems having learned his lesson after EDI data mined the ship earlier, immediately after he knew Shepard was going to purge all life on the base.
There's still machinery, weaponry, equipment ...buits of hte babby reaper and parts for the whole thing.
Having actual working pieces is often a lot better than having crude/basic computer data.
B)Cerberus is unlikely to share the technology they uncover
When the reapers arrive? Based on what?
C)Cerberus researchers have a very limited time frame before indoctrination sets in
Assuming they dont' take any precautions (which they should after the derelict reaper).
Assuming there are indoctrination devices.
Assuming it matters if the scientists get indoctrinated. Loosign a few scinetists is insignificant compared to the gains of reaper tech
D)Cerberus has a less than stellar track record with scientific research programs regarding alien technology
No, not really
E) All the above make the likelihood of Cerberus uncovering something balance tipping unlikely.
Quite the opposite. Every single time anyone researched reaper tech it proved VITAL to the struggle.
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
No ex
ceptions.
F)There is a distinct possibility of the very scenario the premise of the invasion comic is based on, indoctrinated huskified monstrosities drawing on our available manpower and becoming a thorn in the side of the war effort.
Manpower is of little use aainst repaers. They are starships. You can't fight starships with ground forces. No to mention that the races of tha galaxy have enough manpower, that even if htey only threw 1% of it at Cerberus, they could burry every Cerberus soldiers beneath 1000 bodies.
G)After the war, Cerberus will use the technology it has to continue pursuing human dominance and spoil peace and goodwill towards mankind.
Human dominance is not a bad thing.
Also, post-war risks are irrelevant. Unless the reapers are stopped, there wont' BE a post-war period at all.

I thought long and hard about the decision. But I just didn't
trust TIM with that kind of power and believed he had a hidden agenda similar
N@zi fascism.
The first thing I believed he would do is use the weapon to indoctrinate all
his political adversaries on earth, rise to power, and then use it on alien
species galaxy wide.
I wasn't going to just blindly trust that he would use it just against the
reapers and figured if the entire galaxy is indoctrinated then what’s the point
in fighting the reapers anyways.
So I destroyed the base. Didn't want to but felt it was my only option.
So 1 guy with an indoctrination device is worse than an entire species with thousands (if not more) indoctrination devices who want to kill everyone.
TIM with reaper tech >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Repaers.
Regardless what happensm, even in a worst-case-scenario with TIM, this life cycle in the galaxy will continue.
Not to say that indoctrination does work jut as simply as you put it. TI's not lik TIM can walk int othe Citadel and brainwas everyone nilly-willy.
Even with the entire reaper armada it took a looong time for the reaeprs to fully defeat the Protheans. TIM and Cerberus, even with indoctrination tech, really dont' stand much of a chance agaisnt the galaxy.

Me: You want this base?

OT: I usually destroy it. The direct contact and control Harbinger (and the other Reapers) seem to have over the base makes me a little warry of this being a indoctrination free investigation.
Better to just salvage the debris. That seems less risky.

Luc0s your biased opinion about Cerberus is really annoying. I would like to give credit to Bioware for not making it entirely clear if TIM is evil or not.
And how exactly is my opinion on Cerberus "biased"?
Last time I checked, opinions are always biased.
opinion == bias
So your comment doesn't make much sense.
But how is my bias any worse than yours?
What I find annoying is the extremely blind and idealistic bias against Cerberus from the Paragon idealists in this thread.
My opinion is not "right" per-see. At it looks like now, Cerberus is going to betray us in ME3. That means my opinion was wrong.
However, I do insist in the fact that my opinion is the most logical one. My opinion might not be right, but it is the most logical point of view. Period.
Icemix wrote...
What I find great with the writing in ME2 is that they didn't give us a clear view on what is Cerberus all about, do they really want to help humanity or is TIM really only trying to increase his dominace. They left that to the player to chose based on the information they provide in ME1/ME 2 and that is amazing.
What I find amazing is that there are players who don't see that this totally doesn't matter. What I find amazing is that some players believe their distrust in Cerberus justifies blowing up the Collector base. It doesn't.
What I find amazing is that people stare themselves so blind at Cerberus' ambiguous motivations that they forget about the REAL threat: THE MOTHERF*CKING REAPERS!
Right now, ALL your hope of survival lies in stopping THE REAPERS, not Cerberus. Cerberus is a minor concern. We can worry about Cerberus later. Right now, all you need to know is that Cerberus is also trying to stop the reapers, so right now they are a temporary ally.
And even if you don't trust Cerberus and don't want to ally with them, you should at least acknowledge that that Collector base is a big source of knowledge and intel on the reapers. Knowledge and intel we need if we wish to stand any chance against the reapers.
Icemix wrote...
I didn't trust TIM, never did, blew up that base every time.
And the Americans didn't trust the Russians. But what do you think would have happened during WW2 if the Americans used the same kind of reasoning as you did? What if the Americans refused to work together with the Russians to stop the German Na-zi's? Or worse, what if the Americans deliberately sabotaged the Russians' weapons with the excuse: "We don't trust the Russians, so we blow up their nukes. Oh, the Germans are the real problem you say? Nahhhhh who cares. We can stop the Germans without the Russians. Right people? Right.. people...?"
The Americans understood that they had to put their opinions on Sovjet Russia aside for the time being. They understood that Na-zi Germany was the real problem. They'd settle their differences with the Russians after WW2.
So why can't you understand this?

In the 22nd century humans are pretty much immune to cancer. Smoking no longer kills you and cancer it very easily treatable.
Just sayin'.

Only to the person disclaiming the dispute. At the time of the game, the LotSB and classified files would not be able to influence Shepard. Helping Cerberus at the time is helping a Human Centered Organization, one way or the other you need to secure as many military assets and assistance. There is a difference in the Collector Base, while whatever form of disturbing you can call it, it has valuable technological assets and information on the Reapers. Even if the Reaper tech is destroyed, Collector Tech is still more powerful then Council or Alliance firepower.
If the option to take it for yourself or the Alliance was possible, it would be more accepted. However, Cerberus claims the base. Live with your decisions, and figure it out in ME 3 if it will really make an impact.
Keeping enemy technology and using against them is a sound plan, but I don't disagree, Cerberus is an enemy. Doesn't mean I'm going back, I'll get my tech, and if I'm lucky, Cerberus might still have members on our side.
