Shepard decides that enough is enough. He wants to end this nonsense with Kai Leng, but searching for him in the middle of a war isn't something that sounds appealing. That's when he notices the box of cereal and bowl that has magically appeared in his quarters. He looks at it quizically. "If you pour it" EDI says "he will come."

"Here's looking at you, Kix."

"He's gonna need a bigger bowl."

So, I thought that it'd be a little funny if somebody took the battle of wits scene from The Princess Bride and used Kai Leng, Shepard, and cereal instead. I'd do it - and I'll try to write something up - but I highly doubt that I could do it justice.

Kai-chan?!  Okay, now my Shepards are really going to have a hard time taking him seriously. And I've already imagined that they would tease him saying he should start a Cerberus propaganda show for kids called "Ni Hao, Kai Leng". By the time ME3 comes out, he's just going to be too cute for anyone to fear him.

I think it's on page 64? The preview was updated with an extended version, which has a lot of extra pages, but it's missing pages in between.

Yeah, I found it on the ME3 General Discussion forum, somewhere in the thread called "Extended Mass Effect Deception Exerpt". (Does anyone here remember one of the pages it was posted on?)

I've always liked Kai, but I remember before I took a break from the forums around 8 months ago, there weren't many people who did. I think his appearance in ME3 added to his popularity because he'll be playing a role like the one Saren had in ME1, which a lot of fans missed in ME2. This cereal thing just put it over the top.

That's a good point. I'm glad to see him getting more love. He deserves the respect.

I have to say I'm a little nervous about the book because, from what little I've read, there seem to be a few inconsistencies that really stand out already. If the rest of the book is like this, I might have issue with it--Kai Leng or no.

At any rate, I do hope (though it's probably in vain) that we can recruit him. That would be a nice twist. Although... the possibility of fighting him is also way appealing. He's had extensive training, and I feel that he would be a worthy opponent for Shepard.

Kai Leng, the amazing super bad*ss Cerberus assassin... decided that the best course of action when planting listening devices, was to eat a bowl of ceral right afterwords? This guy sounds like a major snackaholic! Next thing we know, he'll be on The Normandy in ME3 drinking up all the tupari and paragade and eating all of Tali's nutrient paste.
