I wasn't going to read the excerpt because I wanted the book, but now I am and so far: WTF a metal detector? Would they not have something less obvious to detect things hidden on people...

 Leng and Nick don't seem like the same people at all. Anderson would never say 'the woman I love'... He'd be less obvious even while thinking it to himself.. Bah!

Hell yes here's hoping the Kai Leng fight is as good or better as the Vasir one, that fight was badass.

I'm hoping for many confrontations and not a big build up until "the one." I think it would be very cool to have multiple run-ins with him with each confrontation having higher stakes.

Sorry Bioware. This is what happens when allow Dietz to write a novel. Your badass villain turned into a joke. A cereal stealing, pissing in vases joke.

From what I've heard, those two are fine and portray Kai perfectly. Reading them will probably provide insight prior to ME3 so I wouldn't see why you wouldn't read them.

Deception on the other hand...

I will be seriously disappointed if we don't see a reference to Kai's cereal love, if not in the main game then at least in dlc. ;)

This new info, about the vases... I have to wonder if it was really necessary to include that in the book. o_o I mean, I know that Kai Leng has watched previous targets (at least Grayson) for several days, and sometimes, he would be unable to leave, but... it probably wasn't important to tell us how he handled it. Some people can figure it out on their own, and the rest can be blissfully unaware.

So, now that "something happened" to turn his attention elsewhere, should we assume that Kai Leng has to carry out the rest of his mission with a full bladder? I won't be able to stop laughing (and feeling really bad for him)!

Poor Kai-chan. xD

But the other three books were created by one of Mass Effect's lead writers. I enjoyed them all, and many other people did too. Even the people who didn't care for them couldn't complain about the writing style. I suggest at least reading Kai Leng's scenes in Retribution. He does a lot of cool assassin stuff.
